JULY 21st - NATIONAL HOT DOG DAY

Nope… I am older than 18. You NEVER PUT KETCHUP beyond that age. While I admit its a HD myth/stigma, my favorite junk food is HDs. I make home made ones a couple of times a year But no ketchup. Another way I like HDs is yellow mustard and Pepperoncini.
One of the nice things about being older than 18 is..........you can put whatever the he** you want on your food. lol

They don't serve them with onion or cheese that I'm aware of, although that may be available in the condiments, but the cut sounds about right, though I believe that they are cooked on a griddle. Nothing fancy, but real good, and a local staple. I haven't been down there in years, assuming that they're still there. Here's a pic, and it looks like that might be cheese coming out of the side afterall:

I never heard of a Baltimore Dog.
I did eat a lot of Pollock Johnny’s sausages years ago.

Don't forget the NC hotdog. All the way. Chili, mustard, onions, and slaw.

Way out on Walkerstown Road, past the small regional airport in Winston-Salem is J.S. Pulliams Barbecue. Visitors can go for the barbecue, but hot dogs are the reason people go to Pulliams. Open for more than a century (a sign on the building says 1910), Pulliams does business from an old black and white striped shack with a huge Cheerwine sign over the front door. Inside the walls are covered in an archive of NASCAR souvenirs and memorabilia. NASCAR, barbecue, bright red hotdogs and Cheerwine? It doesn’t get more North Carolina than that.

The red dogs are griddled to a slight char on a flat top and served in a buttery, golden, griddled bun. Get one all the way (you know this by now: chili, mustard, onions and slaw) and eat it standing over the counter or take it outside and eat in a small grove of old tree stumps. Pulliams mild chili and homemade white slaw are great but you might want to spice it up a bit. Texas Pete hot sauce is ever-present in North Carolina restaurants (it’s made 2 miles away on Indiana Avenue in Winston-Salem).

Rich, the only one for Arizona is this.

Named for the area's famed desert, the Sonoran hot dog is a beef frank wrapped in bacon, then cooked on a griddle and piled with pinto beans, grilled onions, chopped tomatoes, mayonnaise or sour cream, mustard and salsa verde (tomatillo salsa).
Oooh, that sounds good!!

DH made something tonight he said he saw in my Hot Dog binder. It was an article about different hot dogs around the world and this one was listed under Spanish. It contained pimiento cheese spread, serrano ham and manchego cheese. Gee, I wonder why he picked this one? lol DH gave it an Excellant rating and I gave it an ok. Oh well, there is still the rest of the month to go. lol

For National Hot Dog Day at my house
Brats with carmelized onions, bbq chips and my special beans (yes, there's hot dogs and ravioli, chili, bacon and lots of other goodies!). Didn't realize we were out of hot dog buns when I started.
