Chuck, you should be able to go back and edit your profile. I know I've done it before.

He does, but I'm pretty sure you can do it yourself.
Hello and welcome Chuck, I had the same issue & concern after I signed up. You will need to contact Chris (site originator & administrator) directly and request a change, as this must be done on the back-end. He's responsive and accommodating.
The main point is, your username must be unique within the member database.

Many of us use our full names and I haven't seen or heard of anyone having a problem. Nobody has even called me Beetle

When I joined this community a number of years ago, I for sure did not use my full name as I had on a previous forum of this type. (now a defunct forum). But I'd just come off a situation of online stalking and threats to myself and family including my daughters and wife who were all named by name in the threats to me on the forum. To this day, IDK what the whole thing was about. May have been something I inadvertently said, or product I noted as being very good or bad. I truly don't know what it was. I try to tiptoe around issues as I'm here hopefully to make friends not bad blood. Still, I did not use my full name here and still don't (and no that is not my photo in the avatar 
)
In any case it scared me badly enough to speak with police here, and such. Overall it's a very friendly group. Yeah a squabble here or there, but hell we all have a squabble now and then even with close family. But, still IDK I think better to err on side of caution. But, that's me as someone who got scared for my safety and that of my family

As an additional bit of information...... forum software frequently USED to have a name change feature. Nerd alert: while the username field should be unique, it probably isn't the primary key. As such, users could change their names fairly easily in a lot of environments. By observation, I did see the aftermath of such shenanigans, and it resulted in that feature being disabled when the board owners came down hard on the miscreants for causing seventeen different kinds of problems. I've been out of that world but I'd be hard pressed to figure out any board application that supports name changes by the users directly. Or at least, an enabled feature.

Username cannot be changed by the member. I review and approve every username during registration.
