Instant charcoal variety collection (not mine), 60+ bags, 400 pounds, $300. What would you offer?

I approve of this comment.

Not really an "insult" offer. Just an offer worth my time and risk.
Oh, no argument there. For anybody here, that inventory really isn't worth that much. I'd expect the owner to be more on the order of "don't underbid me, I know what I have." Unfortunately......there's people who are more than willing to light up the soaked briquettes, and that's who will pay the freight.

Interesting, at HD, the Match Lite is more. 71 cents per pound versus 50 cents per pound for the regular Kingsford.

I don’t see how that load of charcoal is worth 75 cents per pound (asking price) anyway you cut it.

Kingsford Professional was about 37 cents a pound at Costco. I told the seller that information and offered 25 cents a pound. No reply, we'll see.

Hey Tim,
I totally hear you on trying to save money or at least getting the best deal you can.

I use Costco for my briquettes.
They cost $14.99 for 2-18lb bags where I’m at.
It‘s just the regular Kingsford.
I also buy mesquite @$25 for a 40lb sack at the local gas station. Odd huh? But it’s good stuff and I like it.
Most all of my smoke wood comes from our trees.
I also reuse unspent charcoal.

I’m just not sure how to do it any cheaper.
If any of you guys have a cheaper way I’d be all ears.

I’m with you, you have to keep an eye out for sales. Currently, I don’t use much charcoal and I’ve been trying a few new lumps. However, when I got started, I loaded up the trunk when there was a good sale. There was a charcoal call Rancher that was really good and I got a bunch of that cheap when they were discontinuing it. That was a long time ago. On the flip side, I went in on some coconut charcoal from the Philippines once. We got a pallet shipped to us and split it. It was very expensive, but it was great stuff. I could load a ring of charcoal in my 18 WSM, not even loaded to the max, and I’d have charcoal left after a 16+ hour overnight butt cook. I still have a box of that stuff left. Just can’t bring myself to use it.
