In search of blue lid

I think there might be a slight bow, but not to the point it would present any problems. I think you are golden as it sits unless you find something else wrong with it.

It doesn't look too bad, I'd keep and rehab and if the box still bothers you then just look for another cheap or free silver/gold/platinum firebox and use that firebox.

Alright here we go! Thanks for all the feedback. This will be my first rehab. Gonna try and get it done this week before Father’s Day. Need to order parts.

If all outdoor cooking devices are the same, that would make it a 'weber', like the words kleenex and xerox.
It just so happens I am starting this one todayView attachment 6428
Bruce,
What year is this grill.??
I have found a green one for sale and was wondering if they are still a good grill being a later model. I have a 1995 red 1000 and a 2000 mica grey Genesis Silver B now.
What do you think the later green lid Silver B that is for sale is worth that only needs a clean up.?
Thanks

My red 1000,

and the Silver B as I got it. Working on it now

Daubi: Not sure what grill you are referring to. If you are asking about the blue 2 burner, it would likely be a 2004-2005.

That silver B in the last picture is an earlier one. Early 2000's. If you look in behind where tank holder is mounted there should be a sticker with a serial number there. If not, it is probably between the right side of the control panel and the gray handle on the right side of the grill. If you can still read the serial number, that will tell you what year it was manufactured. It could also possibly be on the underside of the control panel.

Yes, the blue one you posted..
Here's the green one I found for sale, it seems to be in really good condition.
You think that is about the same year as your blue one.?
What would this be worth, not necessarily to flip, but wouldn't want to be upside down in it..
Thanks for your expert advice..

Yes, my Silver B I think is a 2000-2001 because the serial number decal is faded to white, but the casting dates on the lid sides and fire box are from late in 2000.

Daubi: that is roughly the same year as mine. It looks it was also a cabinet grill and someone removed the sides, front and back. I can't tell if that is an original bottom or a replacement. If it is original, it is probably all rusty.
I would never pay a lot for a used grill that doesn't have some thing really special about it. I almost never pay over $50 for a grill and most are under $25 or free. A couple I have paid a bit more...but out the dozens I have bought over the past 4 years, I think maybe just one or two was over $50 and I can't even remember any specific ones. Certainly never over $100 even for something special.

The squared off lid front and thermometer tell me it is early 2000's. Keep in mind that a lot of parts are interchangeable and it could very well be that someone already had a run at that grill. In all actuality, that lid could be from 1988. The later ones, like the green lid grill, with the rounded lid and middle lid thermometers were the last couple years of the Silver B run which ended with 2005.

Thank you for all your knowledge and expertise on these things. These can become very addictive as I enjoy taking old things and returning them to a better state.

Happy Fathers Day. Finished the grill just in time for dinner at my pops place.

Was short on time this week and it was a personal grill so I sent the cookbox and end caps to a local sandblaster for $80. Replaced burner tubes, igniter, grates and bars. Put fresh paint on the frame, bottom rack, cook box and end caps. Cleaned the rest up and replaced some of the hardware.

I may have gotten out of cleaning the cook box but I still spent a few hours scrapping away at the inside of the lid lol...Ended up coming out pretty damn close to new.

Thanks to all the “OGs” on here that have put the knowledge out for everyone to use and experience a vintage Weber!
