I will just leave this here

Stopped by to chat with Mr Moriaty last week and left with a NIB rotisserie for the Redhead/SilverB --- so stoked!
I'm pretty sure this is going to be a life changing addition....
First run last night turned out good - tho slightly over done...... I wasn't 'thinking' for some reason.... I ran it too hot for too long for just some boneless thighs....
Also snagged a small chimney for the kettle --- I've been needing one of these!

He's got just WAAAAAY too much stuff....

Top Sirloin on the 1st gen Summit

As I SLOWLY try to finish my Vieluxe project, I am glad I have my restored 1st generation Summit as a go to grill. I have had some fun cooks this year on an old yellow kettle, a Pit Boss Pellet Kettle, and even a Ninja Woodfire. But, still, it is nice to have a well made, powerful gas grill that has uncommon style to boot!

I'm considering one in my area that is for sale but I have the same concerns and would have to be willing to do some custom work and figure out how to adapt newer burners most likely. I think it could be really cool though when finished but there might be some speed bumps along the way. I might be finishing up my Broilmaster P4 this weekend.
This Broilmaster has been listed near me for a couple weeks.

I would definitely grab that if I was you. Set it up on your deck and hook it up to your natural gas. It will take up very little space. I do understand though you probably don't need another Grill and these probably aren't that great for resale.
I like using mine a lot. I still love my Weber's also though. I picked up extra burner for mine and I picked up stainless steel front flip table brackets. Just finishing up custom wood for side flip tables and front flip table. Should be done soon. Then I'm just going to use it with my other Webers.

So sad that such a nice overall superbly built grill can hardly be given away, while people readily plop down $300-$400 for super cheap imported tin cans at the big box stores:cry:.

I agree 100% Jon. Maybe people don't understand how good they are or maybe they're put off by the look of the grill. I'm not sure. I don't understand a lot of the thinking nowadays.

No, really quite a few people see the quality in the grills, but they don't want to deal with rehabbing them. Soo many Weber's I pick up could be brought back to good working order with a $50 in parts and a half hour of cleaning. They just don't know how or don't want to deal with it.

What I find interesting is that I've experienced some people switching out to newer but poorer quality grills. I've seen pretty nice early Silver and Genesis grills that were better built and could easily provide better performance but are being switched to flimsier grills with thin steel shallow cookboxes that will rust out with flimsier lids. And I also have heard two people saying that their newer replacement does not cook as well as their old grill. The more I get into this the more I believe the engineers at Weber designed the early models to cook as close to charcoal as they could but also be robust and maintainable by the average grill owner.

I think it will be better than that! I hope I can be of some help along the way. Look forward too seeing what it looks like.
Without further ado, her she is. I'll start a new thread for this interesting old best. And it is HEAVY, probably close to the weight of my summit 650
