I will just leave this here

THis was a rehab on a customers personal grill. They kinda wanted it to remain pretty much original. I didn't really want to retain the cabinet, but they did, so I obliged letting them know that it just poses a rust hazard on an otherwise pretty much bullet proof grill. Their cook box was bulged out and the grease opening in the bottom was dropping too so I swapped in a new cook box. I would have blasted their original one anyway though.

Absolutely spectacular work! How do you get the inside of the cookbox so clean? Media blasting, angle grinder (what attachments?), chemicals? That's a rare beauty that will function first class! I have never seen one. Thanks for sharing.

No, I dont think they even came with 7mm Stainless grates. I think Stamped SS grates were the normal on them.

I got an idea waiting for paint to dry between coats… I had previously cleaned up a bunch of the lid pins and r clips, and they all started to get light surface rust. So I am giving this a whirl. I had previously just wire wheeled a couple at a time and painted them for the restorations prior. Figured I’d see how doing a larger batch goes.

Blasted and painted with Rustoleum High Heat (non-ultra) that I bought accidentally thinking it was ultra. It’s not as sparkly and is a flat finish. I’ve been using it on axles, grease tray rails and screws, and the rods for the silver B swing tables. It looks really nice.

So, what makes it an LX then? I would also assume the one with the sear burner is a better model.
Well there are some unique features for the top of the line LX. Instead of a separate sear burner all of the burners have high+sear. The lid is a bit taller only on LX model. The SS is higher quality. The knobs are back lit. The ignition system is an infinity ignition system built in separate for each burner. The left side table folds down. I don't think I'm forgetting anything but I might be. They work very well for me. That said I can sear a perfect Steak on pretty much any Weber.
