I will just leave this here

Beauty of a far frame for $100..... So tempted, but so far away for me.... and I don't NEED it.

Nobody needs any of this stuff so It's okay to post just because it's cool, I know I do. There is one just like it by me right now but it clearly has a rusted out cross member that I can't deal with otherwise I would love to restore one of those.

There's something about those fat frames. Weber made some interesting Platinum and Gold designs during that period. The only grill I paid for last year was this one for $50 and a two hour round trip.

This one keeps catching my eye, glad it's not nearby. I've never seen one in person and it would be hard to resist.

Yeah, I'd like to find myself a decent fat frame also. I came close about 3 years ago, but the darn thing's frame was literally Swiss cheese. Still shakin' my head how it could have rusted away so badly

What is this?!! 😍

I am perplexed if it is just the reflection of the sky. But I dont ever recall seeing a Silver B in the teal/aqua color like the Spirit II's

For those of you that use the 303 Protectant on grill stuff, how do you use it? Spray a rag and wipe? Spray the surface? Curious as to your individual methods.

I also see two different bottles. White and blue. Which is your preferred or are they the same?

Thanks!

I honestly don't know what the difference is between the white and blue bottles. I use the gallon jug, which is white and refill the small sprayer.

I spray it on, let it sit a minute and wipe it off. Be sure to leave a wet film on the piece. For badly faded pieces, you may want a couple applications.

The ones I am doing I have already sanded and polished back up. But I know the 303 has a UV protectant in it. I figure that should help keep them shiny and bead water right off. I also was thinking I would try that alone on a couple that are freshly sanded to see if the polishing step is really worth it, or if its just kind of "thirsty" plastic absorbing the moisture of the polishing compound.

I buy the 303 protectant wipes. They come in a white canister. I simply wipe and let dry and then reapply.

So I think I learned yet another new thing today. Genesis Gold’s use SS thread cutting nuts for the lid end caps and badge. These have been soaking (along with other misc hardware) for a little over a week, in the members mark grill cleaner. Also tested with a very strong magnet. Zero magnetism.

This is simply rinsed off with hot water in a strainer. Pic of other hardware because why not?

*edit* for what it’s worth I’ve got about 3 ounces sitting in a cup for a long time not. As long as you agitate it a couple times a week it doesn’t solidify.

I wish there was a larger volume of that stuff available from somewhere other than Sam’s Club

I took two of those lids apart this spring and since I had already wire wheeled the inside of both lids those nuts were already clean when I got them off.
