I will just leave this here

Came out pretty good, what grill is it from?
One of the 2 junk gold c’s I picked up in hopes I could make one. Have half a mind to throw it on a cabinet B with the SS doors…

Did you score some platinum shelves to go with that lid?
That has crossed my mind but I want to keep those with the platinum flipper. If this lid turns out well it just may be destined for the platinum.

I’ve kept all the lids, and the best one will be going on the platinum. This one looked pretty rough and I had about 20 minutes to kill.

One of them a couple of the spot welds are broken so I may pop it out and try blasting the liner and either rivet it or tack it back in.
The last one I flipped had a broken weld or two that were near the badge. When I put the badge back on it tightened up the lid too.

3/4 on the top are busted so it is pretty much ready to come out.
I beleive the lids are different between a Platinum and a Gold. Platinums have the thermometer in the middle and Golds have them on the right end cap.
Bruce is correct. I forgot about that... The lid I have was in decent shape. Whichever one turns out better is going on the platinum. I wouldn't think whoever purchases it would know. 🤷‍♂️

Yah, rehabbing doesn't have to be "Matching VIN numbers" type of restoring. When you rehab a grill with alternate parts, they are what they are and that is what the customers are buying. As long as you are not hiding things or trying to be deceptive, then all is good in my book.
And, as Cody suggests, most customers would not notice the difference anyway.

Hello all, I'm parachuting into this thread from the northern tip of Michigan, where we've finally thawed out enough for grilling.

Here's my first oddity of the grill hunting season, an all aluminum Turco grill from the late 1970's. Is this a Broilmaster knockoff?

Yah, it looks like it was designed with the Broilmaster at the time in their minds. I would be careful about considering a rehab on that. It probably has almost no sources for parts.

No it's not a BM knockoff but they are similar. Turco was yet another late 50's through the 60's-early 70s Midwest based company with ability to make aluminum castings and buy off the shelf burners, vales and so on. Much the way they all did

I've been looking at a lot of Gold B and C grills lately and I've noticed some differences. The early ones have a wire rack bottom unless it's a cabinet model, thermometer on the end cap and wheels that have whitewalls. The later ones have a stamped tray bottom, thermometer mounted in the center of the lid, and the Daisy wheels. I would have to look at more Platinum models to see if those followed suit.

Those flavo bars look all warped. I am guessing the grill is used by multiple people and doesn't get cared for all that well.
Does that grill just sit out in the open at the ballpark or do they store it away when not in use?

It’s a DD code grill. It’s used maybe 25-30 times per summer and kept indoors when not in use. They’re talking about replacing it. I offered the club $300 plus parts to rehab it. And $30 if they want to replace it.

I hastily cleaned it this afternoon.
