Nice grill, you just need to solve the rust issue on the bottom and there are a few ways to do it.I've been thinking about getting into the gas game for a bit and this popped up for free on marketplace.

Larry I messed up. I found a set that reviews well by that tool reviewer you posted but after I ordered I remembered what you said about most of these box sets having 12 point sockets. Well I accidentally ordered the wrong one with 12 points. I'm going to return it when it shows up tomorrow and order the set that comes with everything 6 point for $50 more than the other set with 12 points. I very much agree with you about the 12 point. If I ever need a 12 point I'll go buy it but I don't want to ruin my entire set for the chance I might need it.Another issue I find with a lot of socket sets is the propensity of 12 point sockets. I HATE 12 points.
But you got it?I've been thinking about getting into the gas game for a bit and this popped up for free on marketplace.
Not sure exactly what I'm going to do with it yet. I'll get around to it someday. Going to browse the various threads on here for inspiration.
What did you end up going with?Larry I messed up. Gearwrench 243 piece. It reviews well up against brands carried by big box stores. I ordered the wrong set though. It comes in 12 point or 6 point. What did you end up going with?
I have an older, made in USA Craftsman set that I've been pretty happy with. It's also a good size to take along with me if needed. The Craftsman set is an older style set from Craftsman which is a little bit beefier. They made these back when Sears was still around but still sell them. Better than the stuff that's coming out now from Craftsman.
Steve I really wish I could buy something like that!!I have an older, made in USA Craftsman set that I've been pretty happy with. It's also a good size to take along with me if needed.View attachment 112093View attachment 112094
I'll bet if you look you could find a similar set, maybe even new. Craftsman stopped and then started making this stuff in the USA again for a while.Steve I really wish I could buy something like that!!
I've been looking and only thing I'm finding available is buckets of mix mashed tools. Nothing taken care of or organized or in a complete set.I'll bet if you look you would.
That's a nice set too. I almost forgot I had these. It's a little fancier set with laser engraved sockets and highly polished ratchet. I don't think I've ever used it.![]()

I've always liked Craftsman tools, I think I got that from my Dad.It's pretty darn cool steve!!
That's a really nice set too. It looks similar to mine, but with a few more pieces and the engraved sockets are definitely an upgrade. I can barely see the markings on mine anymore, they get smaller every yearSimilar style etching

I think you're probably paying for the name on a lot of the expensive stuff too, although I haven't done the research. I don't think you can go wrong with one of those older, but new USA Craftsman sets. I've had mine for 25 years with no complaints.I really like old school Craftsman. Black & Decker is just ruining the name now putting out cheap crap and trying to sell stuff based on the name Craftsman and what it used to mean.
It's not just Black & Decker / Craftsman though it's everything now.
I'm sure the super expensive stuff is probably still good but is it as good as it used to be?
