I will just leave this here

I picked up this Classic Silver A cover several months ago thanks to tip from @Josh Dekubber . Today I put it on a 2 burner but what I did not realize is that it is perforated along the front for ventilation purposes. Should I be concerned with the grill getting wet. Of course, not now, but if and when it is restored.

I think the vent helps keep moisture from building up underneath the cover which would speed up the formation of rust.

Yes, that is the intended function. But I can speak from experience that those are not magic vents. They will let rain through. It won't be anywhere near as bad as leaving it uncovered, but the grill will get we during a rain with that kind of cover. Some covers are made with loose flaps over the vents which do keep the rain out.

So I may be doing a thing on this WeberQ. The frame width of a silver a or in this case, 500, the q200 literally fits perfect between the rails! Almost friction fit. Two cross brackets and viola, q-cart. This would be the Q for my daughter.

Debating lopping off the ends. Thoughts?

Since you can weld, I would probably weld some brackets to the cart for the feet on the grill so it sits a little higher. Then I would find a couple side tables for it and take the fold out tables off the grill. I would think you could do the same/similar with a Q1xx grill as well. Great use for a small frame grill if you don't have another use for it.

If you really want to keep the fold out tables, then I would cut off the frame extensions.

I really like those covers a lot. I have more than I can count. I don't think there is a perfect cover. Some breath a little and some don't but all trap moisture. Like Steve I have my restorations covered in my garage. I do have about 8 of my outdoor grills covered but it's not ideal. I like these covers a lot because they are super thick and heavy duty. Some of mine are new and some are 30 Years old and still in good shape. Obviously Weber doesn't make them like that anymore. I have at least a few of the newer covers. They don't last. Maybe the thin material is better for not trapping moisture. Not sure. I just got a new Sidewinder cover and it has the vent in the back. Probably the last years of the thick ones also.

So where it’s sitting is where it kind of settled into. The brackets would just be flush to the bottom of the frame. Then it wouldn’t be able to slide N/S. And the only way it would come out is to lift it out, or tip the cart over.

I also thought about removing the Q tables and using the A table(s). I’d like to find another white A table if I went that route because the White with the ivory lid may look kinda nice together

Yes Josh,
I am liking the thickness of this Classic Silver A cover also. It does seem more robust than the OEM one I used to use. I am happy that I bought it. I would like to find more of them also. Hopefully one for my Silver B and my Gen 1000.

So now I can do a comparison that will be in line with our usage. I have 3 of my 4 DeWalt impacts to compare. I have one of mine in AZ. It's specs are in-between my old Atomic and my old XR. So on the far right is the Atomic it's a lower model that I have compared to my old XR which is the one in the middle. The old XR works much better than the Atomic for the serious abuse they get wire wheelin grills. So what I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with you all is the new Dewalt XR impact with big claims of speed and torque better for what we do than my 10+ year old DeWalt XR impact that has been fantastic and I have seriously beat on this impact for over a decade. I'll put up the specs in my review. Let me know if there is anything specific you want to see. Obviously I'll test them all with the same size battery.

Let me know if it still works after you drop it off the roof of a school bus, twice 🤣 mine does.

So you did try one? I seem to recall seeing a test on it on YouTube from Torque Test channel or similar and IIRC they were really liking it a lot. Because it delivered higher power and smoother

It's not as powerful as the new model I picked up. It's barely smaller and barely quieter. Doesn't seem as worth it to me. Same price range
