I will just leave this here

Josh, I am just posting what I know. I am fulling willing to admit that a Genesis 4 could have come from the factory with out the cabinet.
One thing to keep in mind is that a Genesis 4 in 1986 might not have the exact same configuration as one built in 1989, despite being listed as the same model. Kind of like a 1968 Chevy Camero vs a 1971 Chevy Camaro. Very different vehicles.
Just to be clear Bruce I'm not questioning whether you're right or wrong. I'm just asking. You make a very good point.

I was able to find schematic and owner's manual on the 4000 but the 4 is harder to find.

I have a couple questions/comments about that Genesis 4 owners manual. It has casters and Im probably wrong but I thought they didn't get casters until 2nd generation? Did all Genesis 4 grills come with strips on the lid? I noticed no glass doors.

Oh, and FYI. I take no offense to any questioning of my posts. I am fully ready to admit that I could be wrong, especially when discussing this generation of grills.
Me too Bruce. My memory is not the best. Every time I have to go back and double check. My questions are sincere.

OK Josh, you got me. Maybe when he upgraded to Genesis 5, it included adding the doors. Geez, I don't know. As far as the wheels goes, it does seem they were stock on that grill. Maybe only on 4 or 5 grills or maybe just on later year 4 and 5 grills. Again, at this point, I am just guessing. There at a lot of guys on the forum with a lot more knowledge of the older deep box grills. Hopefully they will chime in.

That reminds me @Bruce did you sell your 4 with both serving trays?
Nope, I have one side shelf and one ceramic serving tray left. I am looking at modifying the wood on the side shelf so that it will fit a Silver A in place of the Thermoset side shelf. I have a guy who wants a two burner, but is partial to the older grills with slats.
The extra ceramic serving tray is in my stash with no specific use determined as yet.

If you decide to sell the serving tray just let me know. I think I already told you that though.

You want a durawood shelf for the A?

The z bars should be the same as regular Genesis 1000 sized bars. But those durawood slats look pretty nasty. I think I would be better off just shortening the wood slats or maybe finding 5 good condition durawood slats to cut down.

Oh, and are you sure that durawood shelf came off a Silver A, or did it come from an older Genesis 500 or something like that?

I believe those were Platinum 3400 models. It's the same grill as a 5000, except with a Platinum series lid. That grill should have casters, it came with them.
I am at a loss to explain that picture which does appear to be a later Platinum 3400. Seems like it SHOULD have casters. I do know that the earlier 4 and 5 models always had casters as a distinguishing upgrade over the "lesser" 1,2,3 models. Later the casters became standard issue on all x000 grills. So, I agree with Steve that it "should" have them. Maybe picture is deceiving, and they are missing with grill not sitting level?
