Home Depot could not even find a box before shipping this

I'm doing a maintenance shift at a UPS facility and as I was walking back from a small job, I saw a few UPS employee looking at this Weber gas grill. They told me that a driver picked it up from a Home Depot, today. It had the shipping label taped to the side shelve and some parts just sliding around under the lid, lol. The lid is not even taped down, lol. I would be pissed if this was being delivered to me like this. But, all I can do is laugh at the situation 🤣.

Wow, that's just one of the reasons why I would never buy a grill preassembled. I at least thought that Home Depot loaded a preassembled grill into one of their own trucks for local delivery. That's beyond ridiculous, you can't even trust a boxed one to arrive undamaged.

So, I have been learning some stuff from a reddit group.

The sticker on top is what they call a RTV sticker. This means this grill was a returned item or a damaged item that usually gets sent to RLC. I assume RLC is where return items go before being discounted and sold as is.

This grill, is going to a private address in Huntley, IL from Washington State(Seattle area), its at the UPS Seattle Hub.

UPS said they should have never taken it and they may actually return it back to Home Depot rather then sending it to Illinois.

Regardless, Home Depot made a mistake, UPS made a mistake, and someone who ought this grill in Illinois made a mistake thinking they would be getting a grill from Home Depot.

One other thing, When I joined this website, back in 2010 or so. I lived in Illinois, and although I was not working in Huntley in 2010, I did work in that small town for 3 years prior. Which makes this kinda neat for me, lol
