Hi

I'm a South African living in the South of France, have been here almost 5 years after spending 1.5 years in England and the other 28 in South Africa. Being South African we have been bbq'ing or rather 'braai' since before I could walk.

Recently bought my first Weber Charcoal bbq after having a few rip off's. Very happy with it.

Also bought a gas bbq - not weber since it is very expensive here in France, half bbq and half plancha. Reasonably happy with it.

Recently also got 2 Cast Iron Post for baking bread and stews(Potjiekos as it is called at home.)

Really want to try a brisket but don't know how to explain that to the butcher!

Great site and I've already learned a lot from it!

Cheers

Welcome to the site. Lots of great food to grill in your location not to mention the wine and your world famous spice blend. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Spent some great days in Draguignan on a vacation many years ago.

googled it for you...

The UN has a standards document that contains translations of beef cuts from English to French - amongst many others

They list:

(Boneless) Brisket - Poitrine sans os
Brisket deckle off - Morceaude poitrine sans os épluché
Brisket navel plate - Flanchet / tendron sans os
Brisket point end deckle off - Gros bout de poitrine sans os épluché
