Joined the forum after lurking in here for about a month. What a great place! So much information. I did a lot of research on Grilling and BBQ in the past couple of months.
This all because my big stainless grill finally died after 8 years. I'm surprised it lasted that long out here on the West coast with all the salt air. I didn't feel like spending another $1000 plus on a gas grill and so started looking at charcoal smokers and grills. I've owned a number of Weber kettles in the past and always did great with them so I started looking at them specifically.
This forum and the main website helped a lot! I made my decision this week and ordered the first of two items. The second will be a WSM later this summer. And so, the Big Brown Truck showed up today with the first item (images below). Still waiting for some other stuff like the cover, new thermometers etc. I'm still going to fire it up this weekend for some tests though. Oh, and while I was at it I tested the lid thermometer with boiling water at standard barometric pressure and sea level. It's off (low) by ~15 degrees.
Thanks all for a great site.
Best,
Jose
And I promptly made a mess .
This is the only damage I could find - inconsequential - I'll live:
And all put together and leak tested, etc.
