Help Identifying a SS Performer

I bought this used about 9 years ago and have made lots of yummy meals on it. During a recent move, I lost the lid. Totally my fault and I was devastated. I am trying to register the grill with Weber. Some may know you need the serial number and some may know the serial number is on the lid that took flight from the bed of my truck. The kettle has several holes in the bottom, so a replacement was warranted anyway. Now, can anyone tell me what my serial number would be so I can get this baby cleaned up and grilling again? Thanks in advance!

Hey, Tim, bummer about your missing lid, and the holey kettle bottom.

Where are you located in the Bay Area? I've got a performer bottom that just taking up space in my side yard. You are welcome to it. It might need new blades for the ash sweep, but we could get you going again...... As for the lid, any 22" kettle lid will fit, so you can find a cheap/free kettle, or order a new one from Weber. Roughly speaking, your performer is probably about 1995'ish.

Let me know if you're interested in the bottom. Happy to donate, and you can probably swap whatever else you need from your existing one. The one I have is blue, btw......

That would be fantastic! I live in Martinez and work in San Francisco. I saw someone post a few years ago a whole new kettle was around $120 so cutting some of that cost would be great. Where are you located?

I'm in Redwood City. I can dig the kettle out tomorrow and snap some pics. I'll PM you with pics and, if you want it, we can work out logistics.

Looks like Rich G may have you covered but here the serial number from a green SS Performer I picked up recently in case you ever need it.

Tim, that is a Gen 1 performer as it has the 5 gal tank and stainless steel table of course. If your lucky you might be able to get the tank certified its a long shot as nobody will refill it and a new one is quite pricey.

As for the serial number I get it you don't have the lid but:

Performer Touch-N-Go (prior to 2005)

  • The serial number consists of one or two letters found on the lid damper, plus the bar code containing 5 or 6 numbers, located under the control panel.
  • Located in the upper right-hand corner of owner's manual.
  • Older units had a bar code underneath the stainless steel charbin cover.

As others have mentioned, any 22" kettle lid would fit your grill. If you order one from weber, they will send you a new Gen lid with the handle with the heatshield (some call this taco), but you'll have to buy the lid, handle, thermometer, and thermometer bezel all separately.

Cheapest way is to find a used one, like rich is offering.
You could even buy a used kettle just for the lid

Well it’s not blue but I have an extra hunter green performer lid that is taking up space. It came with my performer that I bought off CL years ago. If your interested in a miss match green and blue SS performer I would be happy to donate the lid. Needs a handle and therm. I am in the Grass Valley area but could probably work something out if your interested

Hey, Dustin, as it turns out, the bowl I have is actually green, so we could potentially get Tim fixed up with leftover parts! :)

That is awesome. I might even have a handle in my parts shed. Edit...,
I have a handle still in the packaging... so I guess just a therm short on a matching set. Lid is an AD model so makes it a 2010. Lid is in great shape. If your interested I am sure we can figure out a way to get it to you...

I actually had a local gas company recertify the tank about 2 years ago! Took me a few tries, but the guy was happy to do it once I found him. I hope he is still there in another 3 years haha

Thank you and everyone else for the help! I frequently go to Tahoe for work, so we can definitely figure it out.

Great community here, looks like I may have this beauty up and running very soon!

Sounds good. Love to see this lid and handle at your house. Let’s figure out how to get it into your hands. Before COVID I used to make quite a few trips to Davis and Occasionally Berkeley, but with the campuses being shut down that doesn’t seem to be the case at all these days. If anything I might just drop this dude in the mail to you... I’ll send you a PM to get a conversation going.
