Hi everyone,

Nice to find a place for fellow Weber BBQ enthusiasts.

I started smoking a few years ago on an ECB that I found on Craigslist brand new for 30 bucks. It was ok after I did some mods but it was small and lets be honest, cheap. After a year, I decided to make an ugly drum smoker. It worked great but when I opened it up this spring it was completely rusted out on the inside and and moldy. I was not comfortable smoking meat in a old rusty barrel. With family coming over in less than 7 hours for ribs on Memorial day I was in a bind. My wife gave me the OK to buy a smoker and call it my father's day present. I knew the Weber Smoky Mountain 22.5". Now the hard part of finding one in Green Bay. After calling around, the Cabela's said they had one left and would put it on hold. It's only a 3 minute drive there, even better. I got there and was told I get the floor model. I didn't care as the floor model was on a 5 foot shelf out of everyone's reach. The best part was they had to give me a 30% discount for being the floor model.

I took it home and can't believe how awesome this thing is. I have cheap wireless thermometers that are awful. I'm looking for a decent one now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a wife and a 15 month old son. I live in Green Bay, WI and can hear Lambeau field on game days.

Thanks and can't wait to get to know you all.

Welcome to the forum Troy :wsm:
I have a cousin a few blocks away... Spence and Kenwood Streets... A season T holder for the last 45 years.
Congratulations on the deal at Cabela's!

Welcome, good deal on that WSM. I have the Maverick ET-732 and love it. I think you'll find that it's the most popular wireless thermometer around.
