I just got a little one touch 22" grill. And I hope to use it this weekend.Just a good starter grill. In the future I will probably get something equal to what some of you guys have. And I might learn how to cook as well as some of you.

Welcome aboard Don!
I promise you that your 22" OT can do anything that you want or need it to do.
Help, if needed, is here for you, and it's free! :)

Welcome to the forum Don. Everyone here is very friendly and love to help others. What Bob said about your 22" OT is spot on. With a little bit of practice you will do very well. That is the same grill I started with many years ago. My go to back in those days was the Thanksgiving turkey using a recipe from the Weber book that you can find on the Weber website. It is still my go to for Thanksgiving turkey and will use it this Thanksgiving. Enjoy the site and enjoy that great grill.

I think that calling it a starter grill is selling it a little short. My Weber Performer is just a Weber kettle with an attached table and a few other things attached. The standard kettle I have before the Performer was giving to a friend who still uses it to this day. I probably grill more than I smoke on my WSM. The kettles are so versatile that many also use them for low and slow smokes.

Fwiw, I have 3 "little OT grills" of various models. I challenge anyone to produce better food on any other grill. Don, you've bought the best tool for the task. Even if you bought the least expensive model, the difference is convenience. Not quality of cook. Enjoy.

I have used KBB the most but have used Royal Oak lump and Biqs, and Stubbs once. They all work well but Kingsford is easiest to buy and get in large quanities over the other brands. So in simple terms I would say what ever you buy of which type is easier to get in your area you will have a great out come with your cooking whether you are cooking fast or low and slow.
Enjoy the process.

The ones that Kevin mentioned should all work well I have used them before. The only one I wouldn't use is Cowboy. I found a partial bag from a few years ago that I had not finished and decided to use it up on my Performer and put out a lot of hot embers when first started. Took a few cooks to use it up and it happened every time. Have not had that problem with the others.

I know this sounds like a silly question. But is there any charcoal that works best with weber grills?
