Heckuva Hail Storm

So, last night while I was cooking up sausage and peppers on my Ninja we got one helluva hail storm. Definitely gonna need my roof checked. It even ripped the cover on my Weber outdoor fireplace. I did not lift the cover off yet to see if the top is damaged. Dented Big Z as well. Glad I didn't leave the cars outside. Ooof!
I only know about Big Z because I had to put some pork shoulder and dino ribs on it this AM

Wow! We had BIG wind Thursday night, blew the banks plastic fence into the neighbors back yard. This time we were spared all but a few small branches, nothing serious.
Sorry about Big Z!

Tornado in St Louis. Missed my area but went right by my grandson's office and he had his car bumper impaled by a chair.

Hopefully, your roof doesn't cause you any grief.

We went through this a few years ago. New roofs on the house & detached garage, several thousand dollars in sheet metal repairs on the truck (whole panel replacement,) and my Civic now looks like a golf ball. Amazingly enough, no glass damage on the vehicles or the house and no siding damage either. I can't say enough good things about the roofing crew, they got it all done (tear off down to the deck,) in a single day, and I've only picked up 2 nails in the yard since. The roofer.... only word of mouth referrals, has absolutely zero online presence, writes everything out by hand. Shoot, I had to chase him for a couple of months just to get the final invoice. :) He's running at least 6 crews and is usually scheduled several months out.

Hail is rare on the west coast and because of that it’s kind of a treat for us.
As with all severe weather it’s kinda neat until it cost you something.

I once thought earthquakes were fun until they weren’t.
I heard that as much as I want to see a tornado they can be a buzzkill too.

We once went camping in the Black Rock Desert near where they do the Burning Man thing.
We saw this fog thing about a half mile coming at us.
We had no clue what it was.
We just stared at it like simpletons until it was too late and hit us.
It was a dust storm that damaged lots of our (MY!) property.
My truck was damaged pretty good from flying debris.
Yeah I don’t much care for severe weather, but I still would like to see a tornado 🤷‍♂️.

Hope the roof and the fireplace are okay!🤞

Me too. As the roof was put on about 5 years ago, thanks to yet another hail storm that literally put holes in it. So it was a full tear off down to the ice/water dams. I don't think State Farm will appreciate it if we have to do another :D But hey it's why I pay them the big $$$$. I have not looked at the fireplace yet. Been too busy. Now I gotta go make my daughter's birthday request marinara. Yep youngest is 35 today. Where does time go?

Storm chasers should be canvassing the area tomorrow.
State Farm gave us quite a run around 4 years ago, but they were stiil paying for all that mess in Texas according to our adjuster.

Sounds like it was a pretty localized event and I hope your roof's OK. I just talked with my mom and she said nothing like that happened at her house. I asked her if she'd seen any roofers driving around and leaving business cards today and she said she hadn't, so I'm taking that as a good sign.;)

Yeah, it was weird. My daughter only 2 miles west of us (her house is in Rolling Green just west of Alpine and north of Harrison, she said they got some pea size for maybe 30 seconds. here it was stripping leaves off the trees as well. My yards are carpeted in leaves that are all torn up from it. Stripped the big maple out front and the 2 big oaks in back. It was a pretty wild storm. The hail was almost the size of ping pong balls. I didn't want to go outside and grab one to measure because it was coming down so hard it was a little scary. But, I'd estimate 1" to 1.5". I know there are larger events that happen. But it was the biggest I'd ever actually seen

These made a lot of noise on my roof but the shingles were only a year old so no damage.
