Just a heads up, maybe this a post-pandemic phenomenon but in our area, wsms can easily be found on fb marketplace in the $100-$200 range, some in like new condition.

Not sure if this is country-wide but if you’re in the market, worth checking out fb.

Best,

I've seen this trend in my local market too, and I think it will continue as more people move to pellet grills (versatility, capacity, ease of use, etc.) and somewhere in the ad will usually state "it's just taking up space since we got our pellet grill".

@W Tyler so true. Was at Costco today in need of charcoal. Found 2 types of pellets and no briquets. Asked an associate where I might find charcoal. The answer… “oh sorry we don’t have any right now, it’s a seasonal item.” Apparently cooking with charcoal is seasonal where using an outdoor microwave is an activity that can be enjoyed year round 🙄

Yes - I noticed this last fall. You could get a used WSM for $50-$75. So I kept checking every day and shazzaam, I found one only a couple miles from me! I didn't even need it, so I bought it for my buddy who was still using an old cheap water smoker.

But then the prices went up again and I haven't seen one below $100 in about a year.

It is the same in my in my area. Honestly, I had an 18" and sold it I have found I can do most anything on my 22 or 26" with the snake method.
Just did an overnight shoulder on my 22 and it turned out great! I think they are fantastic cookers though. The heat stability in those things is pretty tough to beat.

After struggling with the 22 kettle and larger brisket...
Tempted to mount all three with a couple kettles, grill, and a sink. Maybe a grill room, and comfy accomodations.
