Hello all,

Happy 4th of July. I’m bbqing baby backs tomorrow on the 18.5 WSM and still deciding what recipe to do in the cooking topics on TVWB.
Making potato salad as I type this and tomorrow my mom's southern green beans.
What are you all cooking?

We will be celebrating with a 1/2 loin of pork, considering a harissa marinade but, not sure yet. Unsure about sides myself.
SWMBO suggested cauliflower I just am not sold on anything, it’s been an odd week.

They are very simple. Bacon or anything close, onion, and S&P slow simmered until tender. They are snapped in about 1” pieces.
That's about how I make them.

The harissa sound like a great ingredient for a marinade. I have it in the fridge now. It would probably be a great addition to a homebrew BBQ sauce.

Thank you for that pic and recipe. My family roots go back to Texas. Mom always cooked green beans, limas, and black eyes on New Year’s Day.

Happy 4th everybody 👍.

We have a party on the 4th every year and it seems to get larger every year.

This year my daughter talked us into having a band play for a few hours.
There is a big music scene here in the PNW that our kids are a part of so there may or may not be really good locals playing sets too.

Food wise I bought a really nice brisket but decided to save it for a smaller get together in a few days.
I will be serving pulled pork sammie’s and sliders, smoked kielbasa, burgers, Costco dogs, sweet corn and a variety of salads

Seafood is a big thing here and we enjoy having an oyster bar with a bunch of fixens along with some bbq oysters as well.
Dungeness Crab and salmon season just opened up so I imagine we will see some of that here too.

We don’t live in or even near town so we are allowed to have big firework displays at our parties.
Most all of our neighbors (the 4 that live within a mile of us) shoot off a lot more fireworks than us so there isn’t scared dog issues as they are used to it and enjoy that freedom.
