Hanger Steak : Where to Find In NE IL + SE WI?

Does anyone have a good source for Hanger Steak from the Chicago through Milwaukee area and in between?

for $12.99 lb at Sendik's.
in my mind, it is NOT worth it.
haven't had it in years, but at that price, I won't.

Saw Hanger at RESTAURANT DEPOT for 7.99lb but that was case price.
 
Hmmm for 13 bucks a pound I could get some tri tip and some nice ribeye.... gotta think about that. Thanks
 
Today at Sorg's in Darien, WI I picked up 3 cryo'd and frozen hanger steaks (1.34, 1.63, 1.63 lbs) for $3.65/lb.

And since you mentioned tri-tip...$7.90/lb.

The one thing you need to know about shopping at Sorg's: take a number.
 
Lots of names for it but one I saw was "bottom sirloin tip" . Never knew there was a "top sirloin tip" let alone bottom. I know about top sirloin but definitely not the same as top sirloin tip.

If you can find just plain ol' "sirloin tip", that might fit the bill. I made some in a Chinese "beef and broccoli" stir fry. Excellent flavour and nice and tender when cut properly.

Choice was $4/lb here last week so probably $3/lb or less for you.
 
I have seen a place call bottom sirloin tip the same as tri tip. It does not look like tri tip to me but it sure was good.
 
I asked the butcher at my local store about hanger, skirt, type steak and he said they quit carrying it because the high cost and they didn't move it.
