Sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother Bill, it's always difficult for the ones left behind, even if the passing was best for the person. It makes us all appreciate our love ones and our time on this earth.
Ya know, I use Portuguese rolls all the time for sausage and peppers. If you cut along with the line in the top of them you get two awesome little beds for the sausages to sit on. Gourmet hot dog rolls if you will... I load the bread with the peppers and onions and sit the sausage in it. That bread soaks up all of the juice perfectly.
