Gunna make a big change with my grilling set up.......

One reason to do the regulator delete is to convert it to NG, as I am in the process of doing. You might ask "WHY?"
Well, the grill is only used on my back deck. I have several other Q's if I want to tailgate or take it on a picnic or just use on in my driveway. But, I have a NG hook up on my back decks six feet from the Q, so why not use it. I have been running it off a 20lb LP tank with an adapter hose for years. I had done a regulator delete on a grill several years ago and since scrapped that grill but saved the valve/knob assembly. So, all I have to do to convert it is drill out the orifice and then use that to replace the valve/regulator/knob assembly on my Q220 and hook it up to the NG line. I have done the conversion, but I am waiting on the quick connect for my NG line to be able to connect the grill to it.

Sounds like a great idea to me Bruce!

Sounds good but why are you waiting on quick connects? I bough a bunch for my back porch from Amazon and got them in a day. I have a heater, generator, and grill all hooked up to a 3 way to my home propane tank. Same connections.

Joe: The stub to my back deck is 3/4" and capped. I am ordering a 1/2" to 3/8" elbow reducer and then a 3/8" female quick connect to be able to hook in the 3/8" NG line. I rarely get anything in a day from Amazon....I guess location in relation to their warehouses is the reason. The did not have the elbow that I wanted either. I had to order that off Ebay.

Yah, not something I would expect many others to find the need or desire to do, but it fits my situation well. Also, with my rehabbing pretty much over for the season, it gives me a reason to keep my feet wet.
Sure is nice to have natural gas hookup and not deal with propane tanks. I have that in Arizona where I'm converting my Genesis Jr. to Ng. I'm tempted to run a natural gas line at my Washington place but I'll probably just ride it out using propane until I sell that house in 9 years.

Right. I had my whole home converted to NG this past spring so I had them run a line to the front and back decks at the same time. Otherwise, having someone come out to run a single line gets pretty expensive.

I would only have to run my gas line about 15 ft under my house from where my stove is to my back patio. But then I would also have to consider converting any grills that I wanted to use at that house to NG or get a different grills. That wouldn't be the end of the world but I'm about 50/50 on doing it in a house that I'm not going to stay at.

This is a picture of my setup. I had just a capped 1/2" pipe.

This is my back deck stub which is the one that I will be hooking my Q200 up to. I will be adapting it the same as my front deck.

Here is my front deck hookup which I have a grill hooked up to currently. I can certainly put in a splitter like you have if I decide to add more gas powered appliances to it. My back deck is only about 8' x 8' so I don't ever expect to run any more appliances off that stub.

Man I missed the party. I see there were a ton of great replies. Well today became a make the wife happy and drive through the country roads kind of day vs grill day. That said while I was jacked up on my morning coffee I did manage to get all of the Trex cut and in place for the Gen II 210. I use whatever scraps of Trex that my contractor neighbor gives me so todays color was a dark burgundy and I think it looks great to replace those damn rusty slats. So tomorrow I will post the pic of my new power fleet and a very sad lime green Q off to the side. Yes Josh after seeing your set up and also seeing Bruce was rockin one too I thought now that I have my second Unicorn in a row I may just keep the bugger. I will cook some burgers topped with a fried egg on it tomorrow and send a report and pics.

Fried egg topped burgers are tasty! I would kill to be able to put NG to my grilling area! But until my backyard tree clearing project is done (10-15 years), I won’t grill out there

Looking forward to your feedback Jim!

I think I already know what you guys are going to say. After my recent thread about a LX 210 or 240 or whatever that unicorn was I noticed that a few of you guys had LX's as your quick hitter grill......maybe the just for you and the wife grill. Well first I must admit that I am a horrible chef.....I really am. If it wasn't for my digital thermometer I wouldn't have a chance. My current set up is a Gen II 335 w sear and side. It is a beast and I have zero complaints other than its a large grill to heat up just for me and the wife. So the other part of my grill arsenal is a Weber Q 1200. I love the little Q and I find that I cook much better on the Q because it doesn't get raging hot like the 335. This helps me sneak up on my food vs thinking I am the Sear King! My only complaint about my Q is that the small camp bottles run out pretty quick and they are inconvenient to recycle correctly. Yes I could use a large tank but this grill is darn near new and has already blown out one regulator so I have been feeding it on baby the baby bottles that it was designed to work with. If I did the mod for it so i could use the large tank the grill on its rolling stand would not be mobile...and I do roll it in place when I grill so being mobile is important. Well I just picked up a Gen II 210? Its not a LX with the big honkin' tables and the lighted knobs just a base model which is fine by me. I am sadly thinking about kicking the Q off the team ( it pains me to even say that ) and replace it with the Gen II 210. The reason being I can use a large tank and be mobile with the grill. Its the perfect size for me and my wife and we rarely have cook outs....in fact I use my Q far more often then the 335. It has the modern burners which I love. It has a fold down table and wont take up much space. It matches the 335 for a cool combo. I think it will save me a bunch of propane using this 210 over my 335. I really don't even need the 335 but I am in the Weber hobby and must be able to pound my chest and show off a trophy grill to anyone who will listen. Last reason is that when I slide my cover over the Q sometimes I have accidentally rotated the gas knob......I walk out later to find that the darn thing has been leaking gas for 30 minutes....yikes! Scary. So I have the 210 almost complete...I will replace the rusty slats with Trex and it will be a sharp addition. I feel like I am cheating on my Q. I guess I was just talking out load but if I am wrong about this lil 210 replacing my Q please let me know before I get it dirty. I included a pic of my LX240 as well but I had to sell that one because it was a good money maker.
Why not get a fitting to refill the small propane bottles? Easy to do and greatly reduces fuel cost.

I have one of those and it works well. I think mine cost me $7 and I have refilled dozens of the 1lb canisters off of 20 lb'ers. I haven't paid for a new 1 lb canister for 4-5 years and I see now they are pushing $5 each. Refilling them is about a buck or so each.

Hmmmmmm I am the paranoid type........mainly due to lack of knowledge.....but I thought those camp bottles were not supposed to be refilled for some reason. Big grill day on FB this morning.....running out now to pic up a Gen 310 w rusted bottom shelf for free....a free Spirit......a free sidewinder......they also offered a free smoker....then tomorrow a copper 330 in great shape for $225........the garage will go from empty to full in a hurry!!!

Yah, a disclaimer should probably be added.

No, you are not supposed to refill them. But thousands of people do and I haven't seen a bunch of horror stories. I imagine you can find some of you look though.

I have refilled lots of the disposable 1lb'ers but find the seal at the top often start to leak. I have tried to lubricate them with minimal success. I wound up buying a 4 pack of the metal screw on tops with a seal and they do work. The flame king has never leaked.
