Hey Mates,

I arrived in Australia two years ago (I'm originally from Tennessee) to take a job as a mining engineer. The first thing I noticed was the extreme lack of BBQ in this region of Western Australia. I immediately set out to find a source for good equipment for slow cooking, and stumbled upon a store here that sold Weber products. I now own a WSM 18.5 and a weber OTG.

My mates at work love it when I bring in pulled pork that I've been preparing over the previous weekend, so I've tried to bring a bit of the Southern US with me.

I'm looking forward to what this forum has to offer (I've been a lurker for a while, now)

Cheers,

Will

Will, you're a Good Man AND represent the American BBQ fanatic very well!
Welcome to the forum !! :wsm:

Welcome Will! That comes as a surprise to me, if anywhere BBQ would be popular, I would have guessed Australia would have been the place. What kind of mining are you engineering?

Chuck,

I'm an engineer at an underground Gold mine here. Yeah, Aussies do BBQ, but it's a misnomer. In Australia, if you put a piece of meat on a grill, it's BBQ (and no, they don't say "put another shrimp on the barby", They don't even call them shrimp! they're Prawns)

Give me some time, I'll set me mates straight!

Welcome Will! I always find it fascinating to hear the stories of goodwill ambassadors of American BBQ all over the world.

Welcome Will, now, all you need to add to your cooking equipment is a Weber Q and then you will be complete!!! I suggest an older Q320 or one of the new Q 3000 series...
