Genesis XXI (Jr) Restoration

Thanks Steve! I'm happy Dave was willing to make them. He wasn't sure at first because he didn't have a template/jig for Jr. Size grates but he was able to make it work. He wasn't able to make them one piece on either set but I'm thankful for what he came up with.

Another stunner, Josh! No doubt if you can go the Dave Santana route for stainless parts, you are getting the best.
I'm truly thankful to be able to source from Dave. After contacting a very high level fabricator friend of mine and finding out that he was retired which wasn't a surprise considering I haven't talked to him for decades and then not being able to get a hold of Dave right away made me worried that I may not be able to source quality SS Fab parts much longer. Hard to say for sure when or if that will happen but I know that there will probably be no warning.

Well after about 2 and 1/2 days I'm finally done sanding this batch of slats. It took a while but it's enough for three grills.

Also finished enough slats for the junior plus a couple extra with Watco ebony Oil+Stain. I'm loving the character that this brought out of the wood. It really highlighted everything in a three-dimensional way.

The wood tables is my favorite part of the restoration. I haven't been keeping perfect track of my time but it's significantly more time than the entire rest of the grill restoration combined.

Next up I'll start putting my tables together with my SS z-metal brackets and flip table brackets.

For anyone that hasn't been following along this wood is Ipe Ironwood (Brazilian Walnut)

That is what is so admirable.....I hate that part. When I was rehabbing 1000's, I would convert all wood ones to durawood for flipping them.
It's definitely extremely time consuming to do a quality job. I have two and a half days just into the sanding so it definitely should be something that you enjoy if you're going to do it. From start to finish if I had to guess the tables probably take about a full week. of course everyone knows I'm in no rush and the highest quality is what I'm trying to achieve. So technically someone could do them in a shorter amount of time.
