Genesis XXI (Jr) Restoration

That grill is way cool looking. Beautiful work. I have a Silver A and really like the simplicity and the results of two burner cooking. But that Jr. takes it up a few notches! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Val! I helped my friend Bob clean up his Silver A and I can see why you like it. I do like a nice 2 burner. Another 2 burner I like is my Genesis LX 240. The old classic Genesis are King but my LX 240 is a good 2 burner also.image.jpg

Here's mine, I still have work to do on it but it was in pretty good shape when I bought it in June. I just polished up the lid and control panel, put in a new igniter, 20250621_174453.jpgadjusted the burner dampers and started cooking!

Today's progress pics:

Next I need to cut and finish my wood for the tables. Also need to order flav bars, Z-metal, flip table brackets and hopefully one piece 3/8" SS grate from Dave Santana. Also need to order a warning rack and wide whites from Steve Hoch. I'm leaving to Arizona on Saturday for 2 weeks so I probably won't make any orders until I return.

I noticed another difference between this Jr. And my other one. This one has no spot to install a swing basket and my other one does.

It looks really good so far, even the white wall that's showing looks really good. Questions: Did you repaint the wheels? Did you get new stickers from Jon, or are those the original ones? What warming rack fits that grill, I wouldn't think you could still get the right one?

Thanks Val. I'm excited to do the wood work.
I'm sure it's going to come out as great as the rest of the grill. Looking forward to seeing the woodwork. Did you decide on a stain or varnish? I'm making a replacement handle for a B that broke out of a piece of Poplar I got at Home Depot. Thinking of simple Rustoleum Spar Varnish but never have done much wood finishing.

I prefer General finish exterior 450 top coat. It's an excellent product. I like it better than spar.
