Not flattened, scored. we call then tire tread potatoes. Potato is halved, then scored halfway through. when cooked the scores open up and they come out like you see.

If you do not use the side burner on this grill, open the lid and check it every once in a while. Little critters
seem to enjoy making beds of leaf pieces if it is not used much.
