Genesis Gold Part 2

I may have to do that on this one, it's pretty eaten away on that end and may not sit evenly when I bolt it back on.
It should bolt back up fine Steve. When I get ones like that, I weld a small square piece of steel to the back side of the bracket over the hole. Then I simply drill the hole through the welded in piece. The bracket is good for another 20+ years. They all rust all over but only "corrode" bad on the bracket end.

Yeah, I'll make it work one way or the other. Fixing it by welding a new piece in is next level for sure.

Thanks Josh. What part, the super rusty manifold or the warped cook box? This is pretty typical of what I find when I'm restoring a 20 plus year old grill, an uphill battle all the way. Now I'm getting my butt kicked again by the stainless steel lid, at least the liner is still in good shape. I've been through three 4ah batteries in various tools today, not bad.View attachment 110897
The cookbox fix. I haven't had to do that yet but I have plenty of pipe clamps and bar clamps that I mostly use for building furniture. I bet that's a great way to straighten them. I'll definitely be doing them like that when I need too!

Lid liner is looking great also!

I know you appreciate what a pain those are to get clean. My handicap there is my drill not being as powerful as it might be, but I'll get there.
Im thinking about getting a new Dewalt impact out of curiosity. I would do a comparison between my lower motel DeWalt atomic vs my 10+ year old DeWalt XR vs the new DeWalt XR with big claims of speed and torque.

I hesitate to move out of the Ryobi platform as I'm very happy with my tools for the most part. I'm sure that the Ryobi stuff comes up short in the power department vs. brands like DeWalt and Milwaukee. I think if I had to do it all over again I would go with Milwaukee. I have one Milwaukee tool, a PEX A expansion tool and it is really nice. The Ryobi stuff is just okay or slightly better in most cases.

Milwaukee makes some nice stuff for sure! I think Ryobi make nice stuff also. What I use my impact for is not a normal use situation though.

Normal use absolutely. The drill I have is my original Ryobi tool. It has to be over ten years old. When you push them a little is when their weaknesses show up. They also have better versions of most of their tools with brushless motors.
You probably have other Ryobi tools and I bet everything works fantastically. I would definitely keep all of that and not replace all of that.

For everyday use, it’s tough to beat Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita. I have all Dewalt at work and Ryobi at home. For what I use the tools on at home, there’s no reason to replace them. My Dewalt tools have taken an absolute piss pounding for days on end. Ryobi would never take that. But do a great job for household stuff.

I have lots of Ryobi stuff with no plans of replacing it. The only thing that I had to replace was a palm sander that I was pretty hard on while I was refinishing my cabinets last summer. I just might get an impact to help with my grill stuff, the regular drill just doesn't have the power I need.
