GENESIS 5000 RESTORATION COMPLETED

Hey Guys, finally got a chance to finish my latest resto.

After doing my first resto about 6 years ago, I researched the older Genesis and instantly knew I wanted a 5000. After much searching I finally found one (massive challenge here in Australia).

A fair amount of work has been done which include:
- Frame and all metal parts blasted and powder coated
- Firebox sandblasted inside and out and painted
- Lid End caps sandblasted inside and out and painted
- All new timber
- All parts cleaned and detailed
- A tonne more but hard to list

I also tracked down some new old stock parts to help get it back to as new as possible, all parts are period correct
- New Steam N Chips box
- New Rotisserie
- New Cover
- New grates, flavouiser bars, warming racks and flat plate
- New Utensils

I'm lucky to own 5 of these beauties (Genesis 2000 missing from the line up). All have been fully restored.

***SORRY PIC HEAVY***

Beautiful job. Nicely done. I hadn't seen many Genesis 5000 pictures but I think you just awakened something in me. This is my new white whale. My favorite feature are the glass doors on bottom, they look amazing!

But seriously great job with the restoration and nice photos too. I'm in the process of restoring a couple Genesis models right now and can't for the life of me remember to take photos along the way, but trying to get better at it.

Congrats, You've got yourself a rare time capsule that'll easily last another several decades.

Thanks Mate, appreciate that, makes all the hours worth while!!

Yeah after I researched the older Genesis models I instantly wanted a 5000, took me just over 6 years to find one. The glass doors and end enclosed cabinet under the cook box is an awesome feature and only available on the 5000.

I've done quite a few restorations now, just find it therapeutic ha ha. But love turning sometime old back to new!!

Here's a few more I've done, the Genesis Junior is still up there as my favourite. From all the research I've done it's the only one in Australia 🦘

That is an awesome grill and you did a beautiful job restoring it. I love that redhead herd being led around by the Momma 5000.

Yep 5000’s are awesome. Don’t see too many, there was an NOS one on eBay but she was spendy haha.

Looks really well done, congrats!

Mark,
That really looks spectacular, I’m a bit jealous but, I don’t have anymore room! I’ve always thought that was one of the more “interesting” uses of a cabinet design. Besides, glass doesn’t rust!

Absolutely stunning restore and beautiful collection👍. I am sure there is nothing like it down under 🦘 and probably few that are close even here in the US. A lot of Webet kettle fans have made collecting them a thing. I like them, too, but love the idea of expanding that to Weber gas grills. The challenge is having a place to keep and display them!

Cheers Mate, yeah I tried to find a red premium lid but no luck. I actually don't mind rise this one stands out a bit

Thanks Mate, yeah there are very little here is Australia, this one took me over 6 years to find 😮‍💨

Cheers Mate, appreciate that. Ha ha, they do take up a lot of room.

I think the glass doors and class, they must of got the idea from the retro tv cabinets in the 80's 😁

Thanks Jon, well I currently have 5 in the collection and it's filling up fast ha ha.

This is the 1988 Gen 2 that missed out on the pic. It's a true 'barn find'. Was used about 6 times and then stored away with layers protecting it. I'm in 2 minds whether to leave it as is or restore it.

I am a kettle collector also but truly love these gas designs!!

A terrific job Mark, strangely the one i completed last year i actually enjoyed the least! Not a big fan of the enclosed frame or the retro tinted glass door vibe! Again, well done!View attachment 72439
Thanks Paul, that looks great!!

After my first resto I instantly wanted a 5000. I think Weber did a fantastic job, the glass doors add class and something that's out of the norm

Also Guys, just putting it out there, if anyone has or knows of a grey enamelled serving tray that they would be willing to pass on, I would definitely be interested.

I know it's a long shot but thought I'd put it out there 😁
