Genesis 1000 Porcelain Drip Tray

This was a contributing factor in why I elected to go with a 5 bar box vs. a 13 bar on my platinum. I may even end up buying a new one when I have my first cook on it. Just knowing that it should get me 15 years with only cleaning it up.
And you can still buy a genuine Weber #99250 drip tray for about $50.

Yeah, I keep hoping one will pop up on ebay cheap, because for my keeper I would like to say it is a genuine part.
If you are just looking for a replacement drip pan for the Silver B/C grills, this is a good deal:

Yeah, I have seen those and that is a pretty good sale currently. That is almost as cheap as they were during prime deal days... i think they might actually be cheaper right now...

I'm guessing that with the sales of the company over time, there are fewer and fewer people left throughout the Weber organization that have direct knowledge of and loyalty to the early models. I could see somebody without that experience assuming that since the grates are compatible, the pans are too. That person could have been born after the last 1000 was shipped lol.

That's one of the reasons this forum is so valuable. The knowledge being shared here is all one needs to learn most everything about these great grills. This helpful community is like no other I've seen.

I do think that even with a somewhat lesser finish, these pans will be invaluable. Maybe more for the daily driver than the show piece, $50 is a small price to pay for another 20 years of service. I initially avoided these early models for just this reason, having read dozens of posts by members wishing such a pan would become available.

Now, the next new member who wants to rehab their grill can be pointed to a good aftermarket product compared to chasing down a decent donor, a much harder task. This should help keep more of these early models in service and will at least make quality flips possible for some time to come.

I just think that there are probably a good number of customers that have bought the pan and realized that it wasn't the right size for their Genesis 1000 and returned it. At which point, you would think someone would realize there was a problem with the listing.
The C/S phone reps have probably had a bunch of calls about this problem. Even if the reps simply authorize a refund, I know supervisors monitor and review the calls and at some point in short order, someone would pursue and fix the issue.

I talked with a lady named Kathleen from grillparts and she is sending me a return label to send the drip pan back.

She asked if I wanted a exchange, I requested a refund.
I was so deflated when I saw these 2 blemishes that I have no way of knowing if a 3rd pan would be any better.

I'm chalking this up as experience in life😉
I will stand by what I said above. Mark, I think the reality of this non-OEM replacement part is probably somewhere between your highly impressed reaction to the first one and this disappointment on the second. This may well be as good as we can hope for. Maybe if they get returns for blemished ones, GrillParts.com will put pressure on the maker of these to improve their quality control.

It would be nice if they sold off the "2nds". I would take one like the second one you got if the price was right and just do some high heat touch up. I know some here would disagree, but it is not likely any other manufacturer is going to stand in the gap for a declining "population" of 20+ year old grills. Finding super nice originals is becoming a "barn find" and will get less and less likely.

Never in a Million years did I think that being issued a 100% refund on my 2nd drip pan would be this easy from grillparts. com

It's over and if any one else wants to purchase a pan, good luck.1000009551.jpg

I just got a email from grillparts saying that they don't want the item back.
My wife took the package to FedEx yesterday at 5:30pm
If I would of drug my feet for a day, I could have a free drip tray🤔

Hell, honestly for the type of part it is (not seen and exposed to pretty adverse elements) I would not have bothered doing anything with it. I'd have been happy. I guess if it's a "showpiece" thing ehhh maybe but honestly I can't wrap my head around an appliance that is simply there to "look at".

@LMichaels I can see how some people would think making a barbecue perfect is ridiculous. I take a lot of pride in my work and in my restorations and I expect a lot out of myself also and maybe intern I expect too much in the quality of parts that I use for my restorations. Some of my Restorations I use and some of them I haven't yet but plan on in the future. Whether I use it or I don't use it I still want it to be something I can be proud of. Maybe it's ridiculous that I want to be able to stick my head underneath looking up and have everything be perfect whether you can see it or not. I will know it's subpar and to me that's unacceptable. I'm not saying that I'm right it's just how I see it. I totally understand that it would be different for somebody else. If I was restoring a grill for you Larry I would not accept that part and maybe it wouldn't make any difference to you but I would know that it's not the quality that I expect to produce and put my name on and stamp of approval.
