Genesis 1000 Porcelain Drip Tray

I have been debating ordering one, but the 1000 i just picked up has a great one. As do the other deep box grills I have. But I’m looking at taking this 1000 to the 9’s so I’m conflicted…

If I had a deep box I use, there’d already be one in my collection. Just not sure how recoupable that $60 would be in a seller grill.

I used the think I was one here who reached kind of high, but some of you guys are more demanding than me. And that's totally fine. I don't see it as a loss of quality if I have to do small touchups on something like a drip tray or even, if no other option realistically exists, a more visible part. Is it less than perfect that way? Yes, but EVERYTHING is in some way less than perfect. For me it is saving a classic old Weber from the landfill and making it as beautiful as I can. A little "patina" that comes with its age is OK with me. But, again, I understand that it is not for everyone.

As far as this new drip tray goes, it isn't right that they shipped one that had obvious flaws, and I am glad that GrillParts.com being the good company they are stood behind it and made it right. But, would I be willing to buy that one at a discount and do a little touch up paint and then use it on a flip grill or my own? Yes, I would. And I wouldn't feel I had a second-class grill for doing it that way.

I would rather have a nice original one than that aftermarket one even if the original one wasn't perfect, and almost none of them really are at this point. It's nice to have the option to get a replacement now for people that just want to keep their old grill going and don't want to go scavenge parts grills like a lot of us do. I would probably only buy one for one of my museum pieces if I just couldn't come up with a decent one elsewhere. Interestingly, I'll bet I'm at around the 40% mark of having to toss drip trays because they are so rotted out.
