Gas grill for one person

Am I crazy for getting a medium-size grill, something like an E or EP-330, when I'll be grillin usually just for myself? I like the idea of a side-burner, just because I figure if it's there I'll figure out something to do with it. I'll do whole rotisserie birds, but mostly grill a couple of burgers or a steak or fish & hopefully heat a side dish on the side-burner. That's a lot of grill space but I figure I could maybe use a fresh clean grate area ea. time I grill, then when the whole grate area gets used burn the whole thing clean w. high heat.

If you cook well, you shouldn't be cooking for just yourself.

You are right to get a little bigger grill than you might need. I don't use my side burner much, but if I don't want a mess or smell in the house, the side burner comes in real handy. Also, while it is just me and my wife most of the time, we do get company once in a while and then you need the larger grill.

Nothing crazy about that at all. When I was buying my first gasser, I figured I'd get something small (like the weber Q) since I figured I'd be grilling a few pieces of meat.

Turns out that it's more fun to grill everything; if you're grilling meat *and* vegetables for two, you'll fill a midsize grill. If you want to cook a whole chicken or smoke couple racks of ribs (yes, on a gas grill), you'll need a midsize grill. If you want to grill a pizza you'll want a midsize grill. Granted, this was for two, but when I was cooking for one I would cook a lot and get plenty of leftovers.

If you want to be lazier about cleaning, it's usually okay to leave gunk on the grill and clean it off after preheating the next time--really easy, takes less time than cleaning a pan.

I have a Genesis Silver that I used for myself for years before I got married. It was a great size. The new 300-series grills are slightly larger than what I have, but look nice. I often grilled enough meat for the week when I grilled, and whenever I had guests over, I had plenty of room to feed a crowd. Plus, you can keep it for a long, long time.

The new 300 series Geneis is great I do not have a side burner on mine, but what is good is you only have to light the burners you need and on a meduim size BBQ you get a better Quality unit also, I think the new EP 320 would be a good choice. I have seen a few real nicely price ones on CL I do not know where you are located but have a go or just make a deal and but new,

Kevin
