Garage Heater

If you are referring to my post, yeah, it's a small poke. I know he knows a little about natural gas. :)
Just wondering why he chose electric.

Itā€™s all good. I actually enjoyed your tongue in cheek humor on that one quite a bit. What would our resident gas pro know about gas anyways, right? Iā€™m pretty confident Larry will crack a smile from it as well.

Maybe you and I can help him size up the gas piping to his garage. I'm thinking a 1/2" line to the garage will work. What do you think?
Edit: Might have to go to 3/4" for his turkey fryer. (I seem to remember he loves turkey, but I may be wrong :) )

Larry is pretty thick skinned but, just remember when you ā€œPoke the Bearā€. Have a little respect for the guy, he can see handwriting on the wall and realized a change of heart a demands for an electric vehicle, an improved garage environment?
Iā€™m not jumping in to defend him, he needs no help, my brother is like Gretzky, drop the gloves and itā€™s ON.
I appreciates things done well, properly designed, and well built, I can only surmise that his home is comfortable, enjoyable and filled with delightful aromas from ā€œBig Zā€ and the rest of his culinary talents.
Iā€™m still trying to sort out a visit on my next trip to Milwaukee!

WOW!
I have plenty of respect for the guy. Don't know why you thought otherwise.
Gerry

Edit: When are you headed to Milwaukee?
Edit again: Why would I or anyone care if your brother is like Gretzky? Should I prepare for his arrival?

More thinking about @Raymond Gatnor.
Larry can pass gas with the best of us! His shift to the electric side for a vehicle and heater is a touch out of his ā€œI like the way things areā€ norm. I take his opinions under close consideration abut many things. Not picking a fight. Larryā€™s tough enough to fight if he feels it required.
Edit,
Gretzky, was a fantastic hockey player who,ā€passed the puckā€ with great accuracy. Rather than some who may have just farted. Bad joke apparently.
Also,
I donā€™t know when Iā€™ll go past Larryā€™s but, I need to have him look through my kitchen aid mixer! And I want to look at some other things that we have talked about for some time.

Again, never said you were, being disrespectful.
Itā€™s all fine unless Larry feels irked.

Well, Larry passing gas with the best of us? My wife would vehemently disagree. I have read about Larry's affinity to electric vehicles. Fine.
I think my original question was asking why he wasn't considering natural gas. I guess you feel like you can answer for Larry...

A couple quick easy answers. Actually I'm kinda enjoying the friendly prodding. Things not going well with my dad. Fading very fast now. So a little friendly bantering gives me a little diversion.
Re, my BEV choice. First the deal was just too darn good. Because of how economical it is it's literally paying for itself as time goes on. I charge it on off peak hours, with power at only 4 or 5 cents per KWh. So every 2 or 3 days I give it say 25 KW or so. Example, When I had the Highlander it would cost me about $15-$18 in gas just to go see my dad. (about 90 miles RT). Now I do it on $2-$3 of electricity. So the cost of operation is literally covering my lease cost and then some. Believe me I'm not some tree hugger or believe my driving it is saving the world because I know it's not. But, it's saving me real $$$ and is overall much more convenient. (not that it doesn't present me with a challenge or 2) but in the scheme of things it working really well for me and it's a truly enjoyable vehicle to use. Comfortable beyond belief, smooth and eerily quiet.
As for my choice of going electric for a garage heater. I truly prefer to not have open flame in there for some of the stuff I may do. That is one thing. Another is strictly convenience. Why should I go through the expense and trouble of plumbing in a gas line (even though I could do it), when I already have a nice clean source of power already there. Because it's already there for the charging station. And my choices of yard equipt going battery electric same thing. I'm tired of maintaining small gas engines and spending $$ on oil, and gas for something I only use a few times a year. Battery electric is so much easier. No trip to gas stations I have battery charging stations attached in the garage and all is well.

Larry, what's your cost per Kwh?

Just curious
My peak cost is around $.30 per KWh. But my off peak while I'm charging the car is only about $.04-.05 per KWh As for the peak hour costs I would so rarely run the heater that it's a moot issue to me. I really won't care about it
