Found Free Silver B

Jon,
I like those knobs you have on your Skyline the white paint really makes them pop. Those are definitely in consideration. I wonder how the one the one on the left might look with a touch of white paint on the indicator mark. Did you just use Testor's white model paint? Reason I ask because you once recommended Testor's red model paint of the Weber Lid emblem badge.

Yes, I used Testor’s white. As far as the badge goes, Testor’s is not high heat rated. So you have to weigh that. I did my Summit two years ago. Probably not thick enough coat, and now it is looking thin.

After inspecting the manifold. It does not seem to be abnormally bent. It might be a little raised a could possible bent down, but the burner knobs sit at the right height as compared to the 3 options pictured. One thing that affect the alignment I found is you could move the manifold left to right looking at it from the left side pictured. What I also found the reason was the mounting bolt for the firebox was not tightened all the way and that is why when you moved the manifold the entire firebox would move. I am going to replace the mounting bolt anyways with an SS bolt when it comes time to disassemble.

Here are the 3 different Grill knobs and manifold pics.

Sorry I did not post the first time I was not sure I had a mounting bolt. But securing it with a tightened mounting bolt resolved the problem, because it tightens the firebox to left thus allowing the manifold tension wires to pull the manifold in place.

No, I'm sure it's not and I watched the video you made on it. I don't think I could do it that way from the standpoint of the extra bolt there would bother me.
I’m with you Steve. But a guy could do a lot of extra work to bolt them both in.

I actually toyed with just welding frame extensions and cross bars (with bolts for appearance reasons) to help with frame rigidity. But I like to paint it in individual pieces, for a few different reasons.

Painting the frame in it's individual pieces is the only way to do it in my book.

One of my dreams to learn to weld and then see if I could take a Genesis Platinum C frame and repurpose it into a Silver B frame to make the ultimate Silver B Platinum. Just wishful thinking.

Samuel, that could be done. And really, you would not even need a welder. If you just cut off the frame extension where I have placed the blue line, you would basically have a Platinum B. However, the tank would stick out on the right side that way. But, then it would also allow you to keep the wide cabinet. If you wanted to move the right legs in to correspond with a regular silver B, that would not be too hard, but would require you to cut them off at the top and then weld them back in where they would be on a "B" frame.

It’s doable both as Bruce showed as well as cutting the frame to shrink it to B size frame. I personally would feel a certain way doing that, but to each their own! It would definitely be one of a kind though!

I would prefer the legs dimensions to be identical to the OEM Silver B.

Probably the closest I will come to my dream is to find Platinum shelves for this Silver B that I found. I have an extra Platinum Swing table, but it is not in the greatest shape. So, if anyone has them and wants to part with them, I would gladly pay for them, for they look great on a black out grill.

Samuel, that Silver in the picture above is a "C".

I think some of the Summits came with thermoset SS tables just like the ones above except they were thermoset with the SS inlay instead of that gray material.
