First Smoke on WSM 14.5

I picked up a display model WSM 14.5 a couple of weeks ago on clearance at Walmart for $89. Did my first smoke today with it with an 8lb pork butt. I'm impressed. The little smoker worked like a champ, and seems to be the ideal size for a family of 2. Started the butt this morning at 6 am, and it finished about 245 pm (finished faster than I thought, but I had bumped my temps from the beginning). Went a solid 7 hours at 250-270 on a full load of charcoal. I added a few briquettes about 7 1/2 hours to get the finish. I did not use water in the pan. Looking forward to enjoying dinner in a couple of hours.

Cool. Like the graph. Great deal on the 14.5" WSM. Hope you enjoyed the results of your first cook on it.

I would love to find a deal like that. I have a min wsm I built years ago, but would like to have a 14.5 WSM. It is perfect for 2 people, but will cook a couple of butts. We are empty nesters and that is our go to cooker.
