First Drive-In Theater

Garden Grove ? Stanton ? Fountain Valley ?
I remember one that I think was on Beach, but don't remember the specifics
Ahh.... the Hi-Way 39 in Westminster !
You got it! Beach Boulevard, the highway to Huntington Beach where I spent a lot of time surfing and hanging out. Grew up in Garden Grove went to Bolsa Grande High School. Cruised Bob's Big Boy on Garden Grove Blvd on the weekends. Good Times!

We could really get some newbies going talking about things from our past... Like parking across from the oil wells and having to climb the berm to get to Tin Can beach.... ;)

Been there done that.
How about going snow skiing up at Big Bear in the morning and surfing in the late afternoon, just don't forget your wet suit.
Hanging out at Knotts Berry Farm when it was free to get in (cheap date night) or Disneyland with the $2.00 general admission.
Hanging out at the fun zone down in Newport.

What is "climb the berm?"
Tin Can Beach w said berm and derricks (chuckle...) Back in the 60s, Huntington Beach and points nearby were very sparsely populated. There were more oil wells than people. Pacific Coast Hwy ran up along the coast. On the land side (across the street from the beach) you had the oil derricks. To get to Tin Can beach, one had to park parallel to the road alongside the sand berm that separated the beach from the road. You had to climb that berm (6 or so feet high) to get to the beach.

My 1st Drive in movie was when I was 6 years old, The Great Race in Santa Barbara on family Vacation.

Rich Dahl I did two outa 3.

Snowboard skiing at Big Bear in the morning and surfing in the late afternoon.
Hanging out at the fun zone down in Newport. What a great place to grow up as a kid, so much to do.
