First attempt at butts

Hey all,

Just thought I would post some pictures of my first ever pork butt smoke. I followed the Championship Injection recipe found on this site. I did use a mix of apple and hickory (2:1).

Butts went on at 10 last night and finished up around 9 this morning. I was a little surprised they finished that early based on what I have read from others, but ohh well.

From my rookie BBQer status I am pretty happy with the outcome. If you pros out there have any comments I would love to hear from you. Thanks guys! Happy BBQing!

Looks darn good from here.
Looking at the "pulled" pic, I see smoke ring and bark.
That's what we call BBQ.

Looks good from the pics. Like George said, if you're happy with it, that's what matters. I'm a fan of the championship rub/injection, but I cut back on the salt a bit.

Were you cooking to a schedule and get thrown off by the early finish? If that happens, you can double wrap in foil, then in a towel or two and throw the butt(s) in a cooler. They'll stay hot for hours that way and you can pull when ready.
