EX6

I have been following the Smokefire since they first came out but have been reluctant to pull the trigger because of all the problems. An Ace Hardware near me is discounting a floor model EX6 to $850 because they would rather sell it than wait for Weber to pull it. It has an early manufacture date so just looking for advice whether it is worth the headache of installing all the new fixes or just wait for the new ones to come out. Thanks for any thoughts.

I had pre-ordered mine from Weber and received it in February. I never experienced a lot of the issues some other folks have had. I did install the pellet slide and the welded chute, both were very simple operations. Updating the software / firmware was not difficult and will be something that will have to be done in the future as Weber releases more updates. Weber's customer service was good and is getting better as they move past the COVID restrictions.

If it were me I would not pass on a price tag of $ 850.00 if your comfortable replacing a few parts.

That's a bargain. My EX6 has all original equipment. I bought it from Lowe's and the build date was 1/18/20. For 10 weeks it has performed well and I think that's because of all the changes they've made to the grill firmware. You may have a few glitches, or not, but it is great at hot and fast or low and slow. This is my 3rd pellet grill and the most capable. Good luck.

I don't own a pellet grill. The EX6 is $1,200 new, right? $850 for a new grill is a really nice deal. Replacing the parts on a brand new unused grill has to be very simple. If you are in the market, this seems like a no-brainer.

If I could get my hands on one for that price, I'd already be asking the wife for forgiveness. :ROFLMAO:

That’s a great deal for $850. I just got a new in box EX6 for $950 at Lowe’s. They also wanted to sell me a pre-assembled unit but when I arrived to pick it up I asked for a boxed one and they gave it to me. I’d ask the same thing at Ace. If they will only give you the pre-assembled one then make sure you check everything thoroughly. If I had to get a pre-assembled one I’d feel better getting it from Ace then Lowe’s for sure.

So far I love the EX6. No other pellet cooker does direct grilling like the Smokefire. Support has been very helpful and sent out the new parts for me already. I should be getting them Sunday. I just got the new stainless steel side and front tables and very happy with those also.

Thanks for all of your comments. I decided to pass even though it was a great price at $850. I would have jumped on it if it was in a box but the floor model was all they had and I saw some large scratches and it was missing the manual and who knows what else. since I don't know what all comes in the box.

In Lowe's today EX6 floor models $959 on clearance one not put together so well. Interesting enough they had a few EX4's $999 no markdown.
