With the new cook box and that all stainless frame and cabinet, you will have a sweet 6 burner when you are done.

What deemed the hood and cook box faulty to be replaced under warranty? I only ask because I want to contact weber about mine but wonder what they will require for proof that they are faulty. Did you have to send in pictures? If so what did they ask to see? Thanks in advance for any info

Sometimes they request you to submit photos of the issue. The better you do in showing the problem in the photos, the better. Sometimes they don't require any photos, but normally, on bigger/high dollar items, they will want to see photos.

Hi J. Weber replaced a Summit Firebox for me a couple of years ago. This is what I think constitutes a replacement:

The firebox cannot hold the flavor bars or cooking grids due to metal failure that is not due to damage.

Metal failure where flames can shoot out of the box that is not due to damage.

They will ask for pictures.

I was happy with the Weber experience.

Thank you. Exactly what I needed to know. I have a burner tube that has holes that are rusted together and only lighting half way on my s330. According to my registration on weber.com they are still within warranty. I am going to try a claim soon. The hood heatplate on the inside has some rust on it also but not sure they will cover that since it's no rusted through. Worth a shot though!

Are the side panels and bottom stainless on those Summits? Any crossover from a Summit to a Genesis?

I think the answer is no, but wouldn't it be amazing to have a Stainless frame genesis combined with a stainless top/bottom/sides.

where are you located Paul

Every time I look around a Summit seems to be a poor investment all the way around. Pricey and a rarity for parts.

Hi Samuel, The Summits are a good product but no different than 99% of the appliances out there. They have a life of 10 years and they are done. No different from your washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc

Weber is meeting a demand in the marketplace with the Summit.

When your Summit is getting worn out just call the Weber dealer and have them bring you another one.

The old Genesis models are unusual appliances in the 1% catagory. Simple design, very few moving parts or electronics. Easy to fix and parts are available.

You have a lot of great parts to resell and recover your $50. I hope the stainless steel frame can be saved and re-used, because it is so rare and looks amazing.

The earlier Summits, in my personal view, had a lot of great features and are extremely good cookers - as long as the rust monster hasn't eaten through the front panel of the firebox. Why in the world they spoiled such nice grills by not making the firebox solid cast aluminum like the "lesser" Genesis I, and most anyone here, cannot seem to guess.

As far as the current third generation Summit, I guess I take some issue with giving Weber a pass on this "premium" product. When you see one in the store (which you seldom do now) they LOOK like other high-end expensive all-304 stainless grills. Beneath that beguiling surface is a lot of cheap painted steel that will turn your cabinet into a rust dungeon. I know, because I have junked two of these beasts that I gave up on. Then, they continue the same firebox fiasco. You would think by the third generation they would have learned:unsure:... I guess I feel that for over $2,000 I should get a Weber that is solidly built and designed to be used outdoors without rapidly disintegrating virtually anywhere besides Arizona and unbelievably fast in places like my old South Florida area.

Below is the Warranty section from the Summit silver and gold D manual. Guide # 41995.

In 2017 I got the firebox under warranty on my summit Gold. I assumed it was under the Aluminum castings coverage - Lifetime.

If anyone with a registered summit silver or gold D has been refused the cookbox under warranty, please provide details. My hope has been to get 10 years out of the warranty cookbox and a final replacement before the warranty expired.

Recently I got lucky and bought a platinum D for $25. Its cookbox is rusted and so I plan to move my Gold onto the platinum cart and the rest of its parts should be close to a lifetime of maintenance parts.

That summit is a great grill.

Regards
