Drewski's Redhead Resto

Jon, I love the look of the wood on your Skyline. I'm shooting for something similar on a Genesis 1000 I'm currently restoring. I assume you used 4 pieces of z-bar on the bottom shelf? It looks like each is just less than 1/2 the overall width of the shelf to allow two the two independent pieces to come out? I'm about to ordre z-bar from rcplanebuyer and was weighing my options.

Was able to work on the Weber this weekend and should be about to fire her up tomorrow. Everything is painted and mostly back together, just want to finish a few small things before I take more photos of it fully assembled. I was also able to get the high heat clear on the Weber emblem and man does it pop even more. Really happy with how everything is coming together.

Also, anyone know where I can source the push tabs for the control panel?

If you need grill parts for Genesis grills, I probably have it.
Andrew, PM me if you need a couple. I do have some.
Bruce

Sorry for not noticing this. Yes the bottom shelves are in two sections. They are a few inches wider than the regular top and fold-down shelf z bars. I had a friend who used to own a sheet metal shop who made me some of both widths out of stainless steel. Sort of like having my own local rcplanebuyer while it lasted:D!

Jon, I think I have those shelves as well. I remember a couple that I had that seemed about 1/2" wider than the others, which confused me, because they definitely are not the bottom shelf sized ones from Genesis 1000 grills. I know I didn't trash any shelf slats or Z bars.

Was finally able break out the camera and get a few photos of my completed restoration. Thank you Bruce for sending me the last piece I was missing to get her ready to go. I only have photos of the outside as the inside is nothing special to look at and only did a good cleaning. Plan on upgrading the internals in the near future since the parts that came with the grill aren't in as good of a condition I would like. Thank you all for the comments and help along the way. Cheers!

Is that original wood?
What was it I sent you? Was it the clip for the swing table support?

Another redhead beauty saved to be enjoyed and appreciated! :redgenesis1: More and more of them outside of what we see here are fading into oblivion. The redhead Genesis is definitely an iconic symbol of backyard BBQs and Weber history from a little bit easier going time.

Thank you, Jon. I couldn’t agree more and glad I was about to save this piece of history for my family. Cheers

Those wood slats are awesome for original wood. It is not often that someone is able to save them and restore them like that.
