Donating an Old Grill

Hello,

I currently own a Chargriller Duo Gas/Charcoal grill w/ side firebox as well as a WSM 18.5.

Ever since getting the WSM I have been astounded by the superior product quality of Weber, and have gradually liked my Chargriller less and less.

My chargriller has rusted a good bit over the 3 years I've owned it, and some of the gas burner protectors have rusted off.

I want to get a Weber Performer to replace this grill. I was originally thinking of selling the old grill, but I think with the shape it's in I would rather just give it away.

Does anyone have any experience with donating old grills? I googled it a bit and it seems like Goodwill and Salvation army do not take gas grills.

I've thought of contacting a local thrift store or local church, but wasn't sure if anyone here may have any other ideas.

Thanks,

Bryan

Around here, when they are left out for "special" garbage pick up days, they are almost always gone before the truck comes. There's always a pickup truck or two that scavenge them for parts. Helps keep the "local" economy going, especially as some of these parts are discontinued because of the age of the unit.

If you're going to toss it anyways (donations not withstanding), just leave it at the side of the curb and see what happens.

I agree with the others. Set it out at the curb and it will disappear. I recently got a performer to go along with my WSM 22.5. I believe you will really like it. The gas assist makes it even easier to start a fire, and the table is very handy to me.

most of the curb pickups are taking the grills for the scrap metal value. If you think it has value as a grill, I would try calling a church or some other charity and try donating it that way.
