Des Moines, IA saying hello!

Hello everyone! I've been lurking on here for quit some time and have finally decided to join the boards! I have recently discovered that my grandfather owned Deco Porcelain in Sycamore, IL, a factory that used to do porcelain enameling for Weber. Now it makes sense why he would only use a kettle for all those years! I do a smoke every other week on my WSM and use my grills 365. Was more involved with smoking forums such as AmazingRibs.com for awhile, but I figure why be a master of just one craft. Now that I have some more disposable income, I've added a few more grills to my fleet. I've been searching craigslist frequently and picking up grills all over the state. Just this week I have acquired a 02 Kettle Platinum (needs a new table and tool holder, but only $20!!) and a brand new 16 Performer Deluxe ($230). Add that to a 13 OTS 18.5 (free), 12 GOA ($20 craigslist find), & a 14 Spirit E310 ($175 CL find. SS grates & RCPB flavorizer bars.) I look forward to acquiring and fixing up grills for years to come. Something I feel like my grandpa really would have appreciated.

Welcome to the forum MA, looking forward to seeing some finish pics of your grills. Like to see some cooks, don't forget to take pics we like them.

Des Moines, home of Woody's, Smokey D's, Uncle Wendell's...a city that a lot of people might not expect to have some good barbecue options! Welcome!

Great story about your grandfather, too. I grew up not too far from Sycamore.
