Daylight Saving Time Turkey Legs
I had really planned on doing chicken thighs today, but when I went to get some out of the freezer
there weren’t any. So found a package of turkey legs yesterday, that I bought back in September
and decided that we needed to eat these before they got freezer burnt.
The turkey legs were brined for about 6 hours in a standard poultry brine mix. I seasoned all
three of them with some homemade poultry seasoning and then added some spicy Montreal
Steak Seasoning to two of them.
Put onto the Performer, indirect, with a chunk of maple wood, using RO Lump Charcoal.
They took about 45 minutes to finish cooking. I turned them every 15 minutes or so and then I
glazed them with some homemade BBQ sauce and hit them with a little direct heat to try and crisp
up the skin. I wasn’t paying attention enough and some of the skin definitely got fried off.
Plated with fresh green beans that had been cooking most of the day in the crock pot and some
garlic bread.
Good flavorful and delicious Sunday evening dinner. Sure do like this extra hour of daylight we are
getting in the evenings. I didn’t have to pull the lanterns out at all this time.
Thanks for looking!
