Curb Alert !!!

I look at it two ways...... 1) is it a grill that would do anything better than what I currently have and/or could it replace one that would be 'cooler/classier/more pretentious'... and 2) how much money could I gain from picking it up with minimal effort and rehab cost. #2 is the real driver ---- I don't know what it would take for #1 at this point.

That said - a 2 burner LX would peak my interest..... but it would have to be cheap..... IE FREE.

True, about a 45 minute drive according to Google maps. It's far enough though for something that doesn't push all the buttons for me. Me not wanting to drive very far for these things or pay more than $30-40 for them is what keeps me in check. The other thing that holds me back now is that I got rid of the old SUV that I was using to pick up grills and I don't want to put dirty old grills in the brand new one that replaced it, but I'm sure I still will when the need arises. I've got to be in the right mood for it too. Man, I'm just full of excuses😀
I’m with you, the 96 Volvo wagon is gone and Patsy won’t let me use the new EV6 for anything related to grill acquisition. Too old for that too…..

I wish I could find this sort of happy medium. Maybe I wouldn’t have 20 grills on my patio 🤣

edit - That being said, if it is free and close, I will get it and scavenge what I can off of it and toss the rest that is junk. In doing that I have managed to collect some of the more difficult pieces to find. Good tables, grease trays and control panels.

I have been watching ebay of late, and am half tempted to stop doing rehabs and just selling off some of the pieces I have accumulated. When I see used tables going for $30+ shipping, that would almost be more profitable... but I also get enjoyment out of someone coming and buying a 20 year old grill, that looks brand new.

I've picked up a few NG grills for parts and then did a rehab on the manifold and sold it on eBay. I don't have any use for them and it's easy money. You can definitely do the same with some of your parts. It's not a replacement for restoring actual grills for me, but it helps get the cost of the grills I do buy close to zero.

That is good thinking! I may have to give that a try. I have a ton of manifolds. Only a handful of NG though. I have often considered trying to sell them as an option. But most people that have NG hook ups (at least around me), are in houses that appear that the cost of the grill isn't really a problem.

Although I did deliver one to a house last year that was easily 7 figures, but he liked it for its vintage, and its appearance.

If you have a lot of LP manifolds, sell some of those too. First you need to be in a place where you don't feel like you need to have that many. Keep a few of the better ones and make money on the rest. Same with tables, wire racks, etc.

Oh, I keep the good stuff and pitch the junk. Most of the time the manifolds are still in really good shape. Have thrown many out that the feet where they bolt to the cookbox has thinned way down. Valves I also have a lot of on hand.

Cody, Cut off a short piece of flat stock about 3/4" wide and weld it to the inside edge of the "thinned" bracket. Then just drill through the original hole through the welded on piece and your manifold is good for another 20 years.

It doesn't change the size or shape of the manifold at all.

I admit that I am a hopeless collector and have a hard time not wanting to pursue the cooler old - and even some newer - Webers and a few PK and Broilmaster grills. Problem is that my work and family situation currently do not coincide with my aspirations. Thus too many projects not finished and no room.

I flip occasionally when I can to fuel my hobby!
