Ah ha, this was the clue I needed. The handle gives a better range, and then I used this to confirm: https://tvwbb.com/threads/before-during-and-after-weber-genesis-silver-b.59447/post-659545

Too bad the Photobucket pics are gone from 2015 since it would have been nice to see the result. The thread is full of some good ol' blood sweat and "sears" I bet!
The first year of the Genesis Silver B/C model line was 2000. The first two years these grills looked a lot like the previous generation except for the plastic tables. That's how I can tell just by looking at them what year they are approximately.

I somehow must’ve channeled my inner @Josh Dekubber yesterday. I walked away with this little Spirit and the obligatory “Josh Special” full tank of propane for pennies on the dollar. It’s about 25 years newer than what I typically bring home but it was right around the corner from me and will be a super easy and profitable flip while I wait for some decent weather to begin painting on my classics. A brand new Weber Slate griddle also followed me home but let’s not tell the wife about that one just yet….

Excellent score Tom!!

Can you guess the year on this one? I have one just like it, and I was thinking of getting a RHS shelf, but it seems that maybe this version didn't actually have one. Also, is this a Silver Genesis C?
I think it is a 2000 or 2001 silver C.

2002 changed the tank mount to welded on horizontal and changed the lower cart omitting the lower left to right cross bars holding the rack.

If the right leg has the catch on the frame you can easily add a swing up table with a new RH end trim piece and a table.

Without the catch you'll need something to hold the table up.

Get it @Bruce

I had one just like it. All the pit-boss smokers have a minor amount of rust. Easy touch up.

edit: here's mine before I sold it.

LOL. like you Larry, I don't need any more grills. I agree that I might be better off expanding my grill selection a bit since I have three personal gas grills, but I feel like I can do everything I need to and want to do with one of my gassers.

Have you ever used a smoke tube or anything in your gas grill?

I just saw this online. What are you guys think is this dumb or maybe worth looking into?

Honestly Bruce, one day, I'll make a "convert" outta you and I promise you, you will hardly ever touch gas again

My kids gave me a Smoke Daddy Magnum PIG.

Edit. It's similar to a smokai.

works great for cold smoking and adding smoke to a coal cook on my BGE.

I want to adapt it to my genny 1000. Maybe this summer.

Let me know how it goes and would love to see some pictures!
