Cookbook recommendations for a New WSM owner

Thanks guys! I just grabbed Weber's Smoke digital edition. @Bob Sample your right, there are some great stories in peace' love and bbq.

I checked out 3-4 books from the local library when I got my WSM, and two of them included the Weber Smoke and the Smoking Meat by Jeff that Chris mentioned.

I liked the Weber one a lot, but they split the recipes between gas grills, the charcoal grills, and the smokers. Not that you can't improvise and figure out how to adjust anyway, but they very much try to have various recipes that would work well across all the weber products.

For JUST WSM recipes I really liked the Smoking Meat one by Jeff Phillips the most. Of those two and two others I checked out I ended up buying a permanent copy of the Smoking Meats.

If you have a tablet (or actually I think you can just a kindle app for a pc or laptop, I might be wrong) look for sales on the electronic editions if you like that route. I usually prefer the real book for things like this, but in this case they had the Smoking Meats on sale for Kindle for $2.99. I jumped all over that. So to be fair, one of the reasons I bought the Smoking Meats on is because it was just $2.99 at the time. But I think I would of bought it at the hard copy price if the Kindle version wasn't on sale.

My advice - check a few out from the library, see which ones you like, then purchase a copy if you find one you think you will want to refer back to.

Thanks a ton guys. I live deep in a cornfield and don't have a library or book store nearby. The library in town is pretty lacking anyway, so I mainly use iBooks.

Just checked Amazon...Franklin Barbecue is the #1 Best Seller in Meat category, #1 Best Seller in Southern Cooking category, #2 Best Seller in Barbecuing & Grilling Category, and #642 Best Selling Book on Amazon...and it doesn't even release until April! Can't wait for this one!

You guys are going to be who I blame when another cookbook shows up at the house. YES in this house the husband (me) actually is the one that has already bought way to many cookbooks and gets in trouble for it. But I think I am going to HAVE to get his book as well. I really like his youtube videos

It looks interesting.

But equally interesting is the book which is recommended as an additional purchase with it:

Secrets to Smoking on the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker and Other Smokers: An Independent Guide with Master Recipes from a BBQ Champion

As a new owner of a 22.5 WSM, I'd like to have a browse through that one even more.
( it also might be a good starting point for the O.P. as well )

So I pre-ordered both of ém. :D

Ah well ....... good cookbooks are a bit like the BBQ's themselves - there's no such thing as too many.
