it's been quite a while since we've had 'gus, butt with the price of it recently (up to $6.99lb),
i wasn't about the open my billfold too wide. This was down to 3.99lb.
I l♥ve it butt i can wait til the price comes down...
Anyway, thank you for comin' down ;D SoLong!

They say a chuck eye is a poor mans rib eye but that looks like a rich mans meal to me, nicely done!!!!!

Now that's a meal for a real man!!! Nicely done Jim.. I was going to do steaks today but was reminded that we can't eat meat today :(

Jim now that is a meal to warm the old soul...I almost fell out my chair when i read how much you pay for gus, I've never seen them for more than 1.99 a pd up here.

Jim and awesome cook as usual. The gus normally runs $3.99/pound around here but earlier this week I grabbed some at $1.99/pound. As you know from my posts, we go through a lot of it, especially with the Tarragon butter sauce. $6.99 is insane!

thanks for your kind words:)
a few weeks ago, when i saw the asparagus for 6.99, i asked a young lad in the produce department if the DM was in, so he shagged him down.
Nice guy, asks if he can be of service, and i said something like, "what's with the price of your asparagus?"
he looked dumbfounded and responded, "it's not the best price, is it?"

I simply told him that i hoped, for the stores sake, no new customers were in the building comparing prices...

like green beans, i've seen them for 2.79lb .... are you JOKIN"??!!

anyway, thanks again folks;)

Outstanding chuckies and gussies Jim!
Great photos too!

Average winter price for gus here is $3.99/lb, currently on sale at Schnucks for $1.99.
I stocked up.

You never fail to impress, Mr Lampe! Wonderful

Regarding the price on fresh asparagus; if it makes you feel better, I checked the price here where I live. It costs a measly USD 32 for one pound.
