Chicken, Meatloaf, Taters and Dueling Kettles

So I really wanted to get both kettles going at once so I had to raid the freezer.

Chicken legs, brined overnight.

Chicken thighs marinated overnight in EVO, S&P and lots of garlic.

The wife's awesome meatloaf recipe. Funny thing, she doesn't even eat it.

Let's fire up some charcoal.

Time to get this party started.

The vortex had the needle pegged. So I bought this kettle in the box off of CL for $50. I noticed the Uline logo on it. Uline sells all sorts of stuff including the kettles. Apparently, if you or your company places a $2500 order, you get the kettle free.

I cooked half the legs with BBQ seasoning and sauced with SBR after 45 minutes. The other legs were for my niece, so only S&P. I also cooked the garlic thighs with the vortex. I did a reverse sear on the thighs towards the end. Warning, the vortex throws out some heat. I use my welders gloves when I am working around it.

Meanwhile back on the performer things are looking good.

All done.

Thanks for looking.
