I did chile Colorado with meat. I had Carne Asada from a previous cook. No grill shots but the meat was grilled on a weber a few days before. :o

Let's get started...

Boil 3 tomatoes until soft.

Toast 3 California chiles. I think they AKA ancho or Anaheim.
Toast 10 chile japones. I think they AKA cayenne.

In the blender add the tomatoes and Your hot peppers. But first remove the seeds of the California chiles. Chop 2 garlic cloves and 1 - 8 oz tomato sauce. Add 1.5 cups of water and blend it very good. I added 3 tbs salt.

To be continued.....

Add the sauce and bring to a boil then put the heat on low for 10-15 min.

Plated with rice. Very simple and easy to do. Tasted great.

I never had Carne guisada...or maybe they call it something else here in Cali. Do you have a pic I can see?

best pic I could find of it as it's served here in Tx. comes in tacos or as a plate. basically chunks of meat in a gravy type sauce that usually has a good amount of black pepper and chili powder(tastewise) in it. sorry about the pic link, don't have one on my comp.

I never had Carne guisada. We have made something similar but not quite the same.

I didn't chop the meat it was heavily seasoned with black pepper and jalapeño peppers.
I posted it here. But I broke links.

Bill, in carne guisada the sauce or roux is made with flour and beef broth. Its pretty much the same but different flavors.

One Mary 7 See The Man (for those that remember) TonyR has been posting cooking/smoking pictures that look
so good they should be illegal.

Great looking cook.
