Can I save these cooking grates?

I'm not sure why I left these like this last year but here's what I'm dealing with now:

I was thinking I'd soak and SOS pad these but before I get into that is it even worth it? Should I just recycle these now it's beat up pretty bad?

You could probably resurrect them for at least the rest of the season, buy why not treat yourself to a nice, new, shiny set?

I have resurrected worse and used them for years. Use a wire wheel on them and then sand. Don't have to get all the rust off. Then just make sure to clean it after every use and keep it oiled.

If you can afford it Denver, invest in some stainless steel 316L grates. Last you forever with rudimentary TLC.

Putting it...erm....diplomatically, Weber's grates are not very robust.

I have used vinegar and wire brush works great. Put grates in sink cover with vinegar and let sit for 30 mins then use wire brush!
